it only clicks once.Basically before it clicks the engine knows its at idle, after it clicks it knows its at throttle, thats it.Its not like a potentiometer (sp?) just Idle, throttle thats all.

In theory, yes.

Best was is to get a multimeter (under a tenner) and check continuity between centre pin and left for idle switch and centre pin and right for WOT. (I think it's that way round)

so when you say "wot" that is just the possition after the click? i think thats where i got confused i thought it could detect wide open throttle to let more fuel in. sorry to sound dumb but i,m no mechanic and it doesnt take alot to confuse me

WOT = Wide Open Throttle

WOT actually happens at about 75/80% throttle open, it tells the ECU your nailing the motor.

All the TPS's I have checked don't click when they get to WOT due to the internals of the switch, as long as you have continuity at idling position and WOT it's sorted.

Hope that helps

If you get stuck give me a shout, I'm at Colchester about 35 miles away from you as the E30 flies and know my way round motronic 320i's like the back of my hand
