I bought an FSE Boost Valve for my 325i but it didnt come with the promised instructions, can anyone tell me how to fit it please? Pictures would be a great help.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Hello mate, I can't tell you specifically how to fit it as mine came with it fitted, but you are pretty much looking at a direct replacement part so it just fits in the place of the smaller unit already on your car.
Attached is a pic of my engine bay, should be able to see the valve sat at the front of the roacker cover with the vacum hose going to the back of the inlet manifold.
The only thing I can't tell you how to do is set it,as I think the pressure is adjustable and unless you have a pressure gauge that came with it and to run in line then I don't know if the FSE is pre-set at a certain pressure or the punter is always expected to adjust it. Standard 325i runs at 3psi so it needs to be a bit more than that if it is to be worth your while. If in doubt you'll either have to sweet talk a local and knowledgeable zoner to help you or go to a garage/ performance specialist, pref somewhere with a rolling road to get the best results

Cant recommend this product fellas but if you want to try it go for it.
Stock 325 fuel pressure is 3 Bar, most FSE seem to come set around the 3.5-4 Bar mark, thats too much people
the idea behind these is the higher rising rate, stock is a 1:1 rising rate, these are 1.7:1 , no need to have a higher fuel pressure
Do not use in conjuction with a chip intended for the stock car, it will be uber rich and thats bad for power.

so revert to standard and a zone chip sounds on the cards
or should I stay with the FSE Ant as I have a "fast road" cam, polished head and a 6 branch going on soon.

if u have mods... u may need higher pressure on stock injectors... the FSE can be used in this way on tuned engines to prevent leaning out at top end.....

i put an fse boost valve on my cosworth engine and a couple of garages gave that laugh and shake of the head that they give, one refused to tune the engine until i put the original back on,general consensus was that theyre a waste of time and money. i think its still lying in my garage somewhere...

They do work, but only if you need more fuel because of mods etc. I had to fit one to my 2.7 because she was underfuelling badly. I've raised the pressure from 3 to 3.6 bar.fuzzy wrote:i put an fse boost valve on my cosworth engine and a couple of garages gave that laugh and shake of the head that they give, one refused to tune the engine until i put the original back on,general consensus was that theyre a waste of time and money. i think its still lying in my garage somewhere...
Sounds like your tuners don't know shit. My local tuner is a useless wanker too even though he's a bosch agent with a dyno he siad he couldnt tune my 320i because there were 'mo adjustments possible' Knob

E30Beemerlad, is your car a touring?direct replacement part so it just fits in the place of the smaller unit already on your car
Only there's two FSE PBV kits, one for the touring where the new (larger) valve is sited directly on the end of the fuel rail as per the original and a second kit (for coupe, saloon & cabrio) where the valve is sited remotely with a dummy going in place of the original - supposidly there's more clearance under the bonnet of the touring (don't know why
Steviec, which kit is it you've got?

Don't know anything about different kits for saloon/touring etc. But my car definately ain't a touring lol. Wish I had a touring thoughgaryp_E30_325i wrote:E30Beemerlad, is your car a touring?direct replacement part so it just fits in the place of the smaller unit already on your car

So, mines sited further down.

Steviec, I think I may have kept the instructions - maybe. I'll check, and if I have I'll scan them for you. Then you can decide whether to keep it or not, and if you sell it you can legitimately say "with instructions".

Cheers mate, it was sold to me 'with instructions' but it happened to turn up without them.

What does this valve do ? I heard of it but never got one fitted on mine ? Any advise on how well it would go on a classic 320... ??

As it says earlier in this thread, it increases the fuel pressure such that under acceleration fuel is pumped in at a rate ~1.7 times more than standard. Particularly useful if you have other mods which may cause the engine to run lean, e.g. cam. If there are no other mods it may help throttle response, maybe acceleration but mostly throttle response which I personally think needs improved on these cars, though for that try a bigger bore throttle bodyWhat does this valve do ? Hello Steviec,
Sorry mate, I couldn't find my copy of the E30 325i specific fitting instructions.
However I did take a look on FSE's website:
http://www.fuelsystem.co.uk/
If you follow the thread: Homepage / Power Boost Valve / General Assistance Information ; you get a generic diagram showing the installation:
http://www.fuelsystem.co.uk/PBV-INST.pdf
Though if you phone them (contact details at bottom of homepage) they may fax / email you the specific instructions. Worth a go.
Gary.
