Bazza, although your car looks the tits with the alpina regalia, I will be looking forward to it going back to bog stock.

It just smacks a touch of a rep ATM (I know it's a option that could have been taken out at the time).

The thing your chariot has above others is, it's a low milage minter.

This is only my opinion though mate. 8)

Dezzy, i didn't say its deffo going back to stock but there is a chance it may. A lot of it depends on what my next E30 project turns out to be. As i said though, i'm loving it the way it is. At one point i did have all the parts to make an exact C2 2.7 replica, engine, badges, stripes, plaque etc but i held back mainly because i decided it would be a bad idea to pull out the low mileage original engine that never even had the head off.

Glen, thanks mate. Have a read through if you get some time. 8)

All is good, apart from not having an E30 at the moment. Starting to put the pennies away, prices seem to be on the rise though.

Graeme. Hope all's well my man? You will regret selling that car. I may have a 325i touring that may interest you? A very clean manual in Lachs silver coming over from guernsey? Pop in and see me if you want to know any more.

Trevor, I already do regret it :o(

I would love to have a 325i or even another 318i to be honest but funds wont stretch at the moment. Looking at next year probably. Happy to have a bit of a project as long as the body work is in good nick.

Would be good to catch up with everyone though.

the one thing i still enjoy about e30 owner ship is you can still make a car you own if you go back to standard it will just be another sport ,a mint one but still just a sport ,at the moment its one of a kind and i personaly think it should stay that way

big thumbs up from me keep it real

A minor update.

Now that the weather is getting better i thought its time to tax the car after its period off the road this winter so together with six months rent in the window it was time for a new pair of boots on the back as they were past their best and near on the wear bars.
I chose to go with the continental Sport contact 2's again as i prefer to have a matching set but mostly because they are an epic tyre! Grip levels in the dry and wet are very very good and i have found the durability to be very good for a tyre with such good grip.
I have done approx 20k miles (not hanging about either!) since fitting these back in Jan '08 and that includes 12 laps of the ring and a day up Santa pod constantly going up strip to chase the 15.3 i was after!
So, i would say thats pretty good going for a sticky tyre on the back of a RWD car and the fronts still have loads left on them!

Old vs New

Image

Image

I ordered up and fitted these as well as they are correct for the Alpina rims, much nicer than some rubber valves.

Image

Image

I had a bit of a touch the other week. One of the other techs at work used to work for L&C BMW Croydon (now Cooper BMW Croydon) which was the selling dealer for my car and he happened to have something in his tool box that a deviant like me would like!
Brand new in the wrapper, a dealer key ring! Its not accurate in terms of the year for my car as it has a 0208 phone number on the back so would date it post 2000 but its nice to have a new one to use with a new key.

Image

Image

Image

I also have one correct for the year of my car including the Alpina emblem as along with John Clark BMW Aberdean, L&C were the only official Alpina dealers outside of Sytner. This one is kept with the history of the car as i doubt i would ever find another.

Image

Just one last thing to end this update on. Absolutely LOVING the sound from the exhaust note now that i have gone to standard genuine BMW centre and rear silencers. These coupled with the BTB2 manifold sound glorious without being asbo loud. Will have to do a Youtube vid or something.

I have to second this ^. I did exactly the same a few days ago with a BTB3, makes you never want to change from an m20. I tried a vid on my phone but its just not the same as in person

Key:
did the BMW E30s not have a colour BMW badge on when new as i got one key with a coloured BMW badge?

Exhaust:
you got a new genuine BMW exhaust
what is it like does it reverbate nice and loud through narrow streets, narrow tunnels, underneath bridges?

Alpina accesories:
what made you change the Tech2/BBS alloys to the Alpina accessories?
I just saw your post on the previous page ignore this one. It looks good :-) though i would prob prefer Tech2/BBS combination myself. The spoiler looks slightly like the Tech1 spoiler though.

Tyres:
I noticed you got Contientals on yours.
Dont Goodyear do any tyres any more for 325i vehicles especially Goodyear Eagle F1s with the V-tread i think it is GSD3 or something
(thats what i have on the E46 bar one tyre is a vrestein or a conti secondhand as had a punchture last year)
What about Michelin Pilot Sports for E30s?

I still have the original key for my car and it has a non coloured roundel. Coloured ones and Alpina ones were available but i think they look cheap and tacky.

Now that i have a standard centre and rear it sounds great, before it sounded asbo. It has a nice tone to it and bridges an tunels = fun!

I like E30 Alpina styling, i think the front and rear spoiler work well with the tech 2 kit and when fitted look like its part of the kit, not something different. The tech 2 rear spoiler only looks good on a tech 2 kitted car and even then still looks like and afterthought where as the Alpina rear spoiler compliments the shape. It is similar to the tech 1 spoiler but is wider and has squarer ends.

What about Michelin Pilot Sports for E30s?
I personally consider Continental sport contact 2's and 3's to be a better tyre than good year eagle F1's with only Michelin pilot sports being preferable over the Contis.

I have tried many different tyres in different sizes and this is what i have found. I'm just happy i have found a tyre which excels in all areas.

Sadly the michelins are NLA in 225/45R16 which is the size i need for the rears on my wheels.

I believe the eagle F1's are also NLA in this size.

205/55R15 are even more limited when it comes to tyre choice!

LOL.

Proper dedication man. I like the fact you got the BMW E30 option top quality sound system which would have been available when the vehicle was new.

If it were me i would probably get something modern purely for the sound quality but OEM is still great too.

Whats with the 20 questions?

What you read was that i bought a 4dr Alpina C2 2.7 to break and i was going to use the engine in my sport but i decided against it. That car had the L&C tunbridge wells, and ML history.

I have all the paper work and hand books every MOT etc etc for my sport.

Adam the painter sold it because he had other toys that required money spending on, mk 1 escort mexico being one of them.

I only payed £2500 with 32000 miles from new! :D

I will never sell the car and have little care for what it will be worth in years to come but i doubt very much that 325i Sports will hit the Values of E9 CSL's. They are iconic with race pedigree where as sports are just cult cars that are collectable.
