I am after a bit of help with a wiring issue I’ve got with fitting a S50B30 into a preface lift car (Nov 1986)

I am trying to find out what wires need to be moved / changed compared to when fitting it into a facelift car, as my car is missing pin 15 in the E30 loom and when I turn the ignition on the engine starts to turn over,

I am not sure if this is something to do with the unloader relays.

Any help is appreciated

Thanks

Did you check for a black and yellow to Pin 16? Have you also checked it is switched on and off by the ignition key?

Yeah looked into it and my car doesn’t have a pin 15 so nothing to connect the black and green to from the engine loom.

The black and yellow is in pin 18 on my car and connects to the black and yellow in the engine loom, but when the ignition is switched on it has 8v on the pin and when switched to start it has 12v.

It looks like the 8v is switching the unloader relay and putting a live feed to the starter

18.. That's what I meant.. :o: Good job I gave the colour to go with!

It would definitely point to that yes, I am not sure as to why it is so though.. Hopefully Ian332isport will see this and chip in!

The unloader relays can't switch 12v to the starter. They are designed to remove power from other circuits while the engine is cranking.

You need to find out where the 8v is coming from. Pin18 should only ever have 12v (battery voltage) or nothing.
