stereo looks cool, how much was it ? was it new or from ebay ?
got vibe speakers in my is,pleased with them
always cleaning my car too and get comments from neighbours etc walking past, always think yeah but you drive a shity heap i wouldnt expect you to understand why someone cleans a nice car twice a week or likes to keep it clean tidy and hoovered inside..but that balances out with the "thats a nice car/clean/tidy/ etc comments whenever anyone who appriciates a nice car/mechanics etc see it elsewhere
here is its resto thread.

Had a good day of maintenance on it today.
plenty of new bits, fitted a new accelarator too, the old one was like pushing a brick through the floor

First thing was to change the thermostat as the temp guage only sat at a 1/4. when people say the temp guage should sit between a quarter and half i disagree. this is the 3rd e30 ive had thats done that and again a new thermostat has sorted it out. bmw wouldnt of let them leave the factory all reading different on the temp gauge

flushed and changed the coolant while i was at it too.
time for an oil change, put some 5w-40 fully synth in

old plugs

New plugs.

new fuel filter.

while i was down at topless's yesterday i took advantage of his 4 post lift, this is the only bit of grot on the car and its not too bad.

also fitted a fritz bits backbox the other day, looks way better, sounds just as good as the scorpion too

and the council shot

also got a beige houndstooth interior sorted for it too which will look the muts nuts i recon.

what's wrong with the interior that's in there? is it leather ??
Also the drivers seat has given up folding forward, its got IS bolsters fitted to the side facing the door and there a different colour and has some wear to the base.
Just fancy a nice light interior in it

Nice nightmare with the wiring, the amount of redundant wires that have just been left is daft.
stereo wiring was a joke
before i started removing the wiring though its developed another electrical fault and now i have no, Heater, Main beam, Instrument cluster, Leccy mirrors, air con, or heated rear windscreen

needs a new one of these, anyone got the PN???

dont like these rust stains on the floor, hoping its just surface rust as the carpet was soaking

good floor pan

someone didnt like the ski hatch

how it is now, drives so much faster, its like a rocket

ready to get the filthy carpt cleaned and fit some car audio and morsels.

Today started off well, plan was to get rest of interior back in but the enjoyment soon worn off.
before putting carpets back in the plan was to tidy the surface rust up on the floor pan.
drivers side went well, the reason there was rust was because of a water leak from where the aircon hoses enter the car, so a new grommet has been orderd.
i grinded/ wire wheel'd all the surface rust back to clean metal and used zinc ritch primer over the top to stop it rusting.
Before

During

after

this was really rusty so i cleaned it up best i could, no rot just all surface stuff.

some surface rust behind

All cleaned up

ZInc primer

painted black bits on pedals too, got new pedals to go on.

Now to the passanger side. first off all i knew i needed to sort the water leak out on this side before i fittted the carpet. thought it would be the grommet where the wires enter the car but no.
i was baffeled where it was coming from. anyway decided to pull the sound deadining away
SOOOO PIS$ED OFF

goodbye bulkhead
sometimes wish i bought a cheaper tech 1
anyway was pretty sick and couldnt be botherd i finished the floor pan off in passanger footwell and put everything away and drove straight to a bodyshop

good news its going for welding next week. really dont know where the money is coming from but i'am not putting anything back with it in that state.
very sick but there you go

other bits ive got waiting to go on is some as new bolsters for the drivers seat, and seat back/base. got a new 325i badge coming from bmw. and a few other odds and sods.

Bad luck Alex - is it where the loom goes into the car ?
If its going in anyway I'd pull the pedal box out and check behind there as well just in case - I thought the bronzit turd had a perfect bulkhead until I pulled the pedal box out.
At least then you know its all solid.

I paid alot of this tech 1, reason i paid alot was so i could get a decent e30 that i could just use. ive never had an e30 thats been so unreliable and one problem after anothersvenga wrote:Keep it up Alex, she will get there in the end.

Rob-might have a look at the pedal box, is it easy enough to remove, would be gutted if its rotten there too.
Oh dear.

Pedal box not too difficult to remove - just a few bolts - tricky bits are removing the throttle pedal cable and the link-bar to the servo - also dunno off the top of my head whether you'll need to fully disconnect the clutch master cylinder or not - thinking about it you probably will.
Only issue if you do find some rot behind there is that you'll end up paying the bodyshop at least another hours labour to remove and refit it as you'll need it in-situ to drive it there
