M3 E30 ENGINE CODES?

CAN ANYBODY HELP WITH THIS ENGINE CODE AS ITS PRESENTLY
ADVERTISED IN THE E30 ZONE CLASSIFIEDS AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT IT IS! 23 4 LA .THANKS FOR ANY HELP.

They were all M42, i.e a 2.3 4 pot, later 2.5 i think. So I'd guess that the code '23 4 LA' would say to me, 2.3 4 cylinder, not sure about LA, los angeles lol

silly me, i should now that all Motorsport division engines are prefixed S, so silly!!! It's based on the M40/M42 though :-)

Anyway, apologies for a my previous post, i'll just sit back and watch as punishment now :cry:
