325i rough idle and stalls before it goes?

i have a h reg touring 325 and had the co check at local mot station today but they said they couldnt adjust it at 1st as with the screw turned all the way it was still weak so they opened the airflow meter cover (black plastic peice)and adjusted it from there the car was fine till it cooled down so i put it to what i thought was right and the car seems much better but i still cant get it to idle flat (keeps going up and down)and all my past 325's have always being so good at idle.this touring also goes flat as i hit the accelerator then recovers and revs up.
ive checked the idle stabiliser and i think its working as it buzzes when ignitions on.they suggested changing the airflow meter after the mot but this seems to be much better once i played with it.
i know the guys at the mot station arent the best with bmws so now ive come back to this site as you lot seem to know much more then most

still sounds like the idle stabiliser valve to me.... Even though it sounds like it's working, it has to be perfect.

Did they check for air leaks ?

nah they didnt check for air leaks and just told me to get a new air flow.after they moved the black wheel in the air flow meter(think i adjust the tension of the air flap)i still feel the airflow is ok just need setting up and ive tried to put it back to where i think it should be(i was watching them carefully)i dont wana buy a new air flow and find it aint that and same with the idle stabiliser
