after never owning a bmw before you spend days trying to track down a horrible metallic scraping noise before you realise that you've got rear discs AND drums.........which takes you're mind off the impending head rebuild looming due to the horrendous tapping..........only to find out that a 25 quid manifold gasket has blown, tidy!..........until you snap 3 threads when changing it. looks like i'll have to get my wallet out! which is in the glove..........which won't open.............and it goes on.............and on..............................

When you can't open the doors due to frozen locks in winter, but can at least smugly place the fuel filler cap neatly in its natty little holder.

It's all about the B-line dropping and the Windows down rolling. Keep rolling, rolling, rolling innit.

Is the B-line the bumper? If so, mine dropped off the other day also. Felt so proud.

When the back end wildly steps out in the wet, and you look like a classical conductor trying correct it.

Is being young the new excuse for poor spelling and grammar?

Anyway, a further example: When you are sitting in your E30 on a hot summer day, notice the temp gauge going up and you put your heater on max. Your passenger (literally melting at this point) isn't impressed. You make excuses (again) - add it to the 'foible' list!

Oh yes !

I drove mine 200kms through central Spain just after lunch time one day in July, ambient temperature 36º and the heater on full, all windows and sunroof fully open.

I felt ill when I got home.

SO TRUE!! I went car hunting with my cousin to south london (croydon) and getting back we got stuck in rush hour traffic on one of the hottest and most humid day of the year..what a day for the temp to decide to creep up :-x
I had everything open to ventilate the car but guess what happens..it starts to rain :( so i had to shut the sunroof..kept the windows open a bit but my cousin wasnt very impressed! haha

when you get away with a slapped wrist after leaving the tactile undercover bobby on his fireblade for dust, only to be pulled over in the next village completely unaware.

When you search for a minor leak causing the windows to mist up, only to find the right-hand foot well has a hole in it (after a previous repair) the right-hand arch where it joing the floor by the dash is rusted through to the engine bay, and the left-hand footwell is swimming in about an inch of water.

when the wife asks "are the lights on" when driving in the dark!

Bashing the dash on start up so the temp guage pings to life.

Big fan of driving through tunnels too!

My original headlights reduced my wife to tears at one point. We turned off a lit section of motorway onto unlit dual carriageway and we both shouted.

HIDS are the way ahead, trust me.

Off topic, but (forgive my lack of knoweledge) what are HID's, how much? easy to fit? and where can I get'em?!

I too have the same problem that you describe...I feel like im driving around with two candles in the front of my car..

...part of its charm I guess.
