You are one wrong sick c*nt sometimes mate!!!

When I saw Granada I was expecting a 2.8i or a Ghia X executive, not some ex old bill low spec wrongun!

I found this time warp example the other day:

Lovely aint it

My mothers next door neighbour bought a light green meatallic Mk 5 2L Ghia on a Y reg when new, it had done 5,000 dry miles when he sold it to me for a few hundred quid back in 1996, it was apparently one of the last german built ones?????, not sure on that.

It was absolutely stunning, 4 speed box to boot as well, if only i had kept hold of that :( :( :( it was perfect

I've always had the horn for a nice mk2 2.8i Ghia X of which ive had a couple but the 2.8 INJECTION sport model with LSD, recaros, bilsteins, dechrome and white TRX's are pure filth!

Would love that but in prefer the sport model in red.

That was a Victor FD the same as my dad had. Randals was a 68 F 2000 all white IIRC, Dads was a '69 G 2000 in white with Black vinyl.

The FD Victor! 8O

First British car with a cambelt. I'd have either a VX4/90 or the Real Man's version the 'lazy fireball' 3.3 Ventora with it's ex GMC Truck OHV straight six with 140 bhp.

The only Mark 2 Granny I'd want would be a 77-81 pre facelift model. Either an L or GL with those funky sports steel wheels of a Ghia. I still prefer the Mark 1 though, but none of your 2 litre Pinto wrongness, Has to be a 2.5 or 3000 Essex. I used to know of a really tidy Daytona yellow Consul L with the 2 litre V4, black vinyl seats and push pump screen washers.

I really like the pre facelift mk2's, so few left though! Banger racers saw to that.

There used to be a mint 2.8i GLS with the spot lights, just like the later sweeney car but black instead of silver, that belong to one of my mates dads back in '92/'93.

Mk1's are cool, roman bronze 3ltr GT FTW!

Still, i'm loving that ex police mk2. Wonder what it'll go for?

My favourite Mk2 has to be the Limited Edition "Saphire". Loved these ans tried to secure one back in about '85 but could not find a decent one. Ended up with a Strato Sliver Ghia with Balck vinyl.

Image

But I's still entertain a late Mk1 Ghia, facelift with open dash binnicle and the alloys in either Saturn Gold, Roman Bronze or Diamond White as below but with the tan roof.

I remember those. A customer of ours had a Granada Consort about 20 odd years ago. It was Forest green over Crystal green and was basically GL spec. It was the 2.3 V6, a very smooth and quiet but thirsty and fartless thing. It was an X reg, based on the pre facelift model.

Someone around these parts has a Y plate Sierra 2.3 Ghia with a 24v Cosseh lump.

With regard to Mark 1's, for me it would need to be an early 3000 GXL Auto with the stainless wheeltrims and six clock dash. White with a tobacco vinyl roof or Onyx green with black - quilted vinyl seats, naturally.

My Dad had a lovely Mk2 Ghia years ago.
Early 2.8i manual in Forest Green.
Never forget the reg plate...TEM 28V(TwoEightManual).
Lovely car with TRX wheels,2.8i front bib etc.
Got sideswiped by some dizzy old coont in a T25 camper in Rhyl
Not sure what ever happened to it after that.

The huntsman was a Mk2 Escort in Burgundy. Ex Girlfriends Grandad had one.

You are thinking of the Chassuer (sp?). 2 tone brown with leather luggage. There was a set for sale on eBay recently.

On a roll now. Early Ford promotional shot of Mk2 Ghia on Oyster Gold. One of my fave shots this:

And the introduction of the facelift, this time in Champagne gold, Note the machine finished alloys. Never made production I believe, only painted silver ones:

Even back in the day they were a bit "Gangsta". I've always said it was due to the sweeney link. There was a Mk2 Ghia in Velvet Red in the professionals as well (Cowleys car) but where the capris really got a bit naff in the end (and the professionals didn't help it), the Sweeney was proper "hardnosed". I remember going to the cinema to see "Sweeney 2" (the one with the firm living in Malta with the gold plated sawn off purdeys) and Regans wheels of choice was the Strato Silver Mk 2 2.8iS with the TRX's and the glovebox full of "mars bars mush". Thats when I fell for the Mk2.

Some Sweeney shots:

The first one Consul 3.0GT in Copper Bronze
Image

Platinum 3.0 GXL. Strange choice this. look below, they switch to a Ghia later in the series registered on a M plate but here we have a GXL registered on an N plate. Ford replaced the GXL with the Ghia in the line up in '74.
Image

Prefacelift Onyx Green 3.0 Ghia sitting next to the Consul which had obviously been relegated to Carters car at this point. Note the number plates. Continuity was always good in the programme
Image

Then came an Astro (Maybe Strato) Silver 3.0S. Right rare car back then let alone now
Image

Last Mk1 they used, Saturn Gold 3.0 Ghia
Image

And the 2.8iS Strato Silver Mk2.

MK 2 grannies were a great car . I had my first 2.8 GL shooting break in diamond white('79 V) in 1988 , followed by an ex filth 2.8i manual wagon with TRXs, billies and the rampant " 2.8i" front spoiler, she was a facelift Y plater.
My last one was a fully fruited gloss black 2.8i ghia x wagon on a B plate that I bought for £60 in 2000, it was suprisingly tidy but I was getting bored of 16 mpg in a daily turd and by now was smoking 325 tourings
executive stylee :)

By 2000 MK 2s were starting to get a bit thin on the ground , I contacted the owners club trying to find a home for the black wagon but all the head loser wanted to do was w4nk over the pictures I had sent him, that he requested "highlighting the 2.8i front spoiler and front driving lights when viewed from a 3/4 frontal aspect" ! I kid you not !

I shortly afterwards sold it to a mate of a mate for £500 and the last I heard it had been chawed, undoubtably to ends its days in the hands of a banger racing knuckle dragger , like so many of these once proud chariots :(

The Ghia arrived in 1974 as a special model, and it had it's own special brochure away from the regular Ford Hoi Palloi along with the Capri Ghia. The GXL was still listed in late '75 on the P plate.

The ultimate scum Granada was probably the late 1976/77 Granada saloon - not even the L.
2 litre economy Pinto, no clock but it had the funky old type GXL wheeltrims to spare the owner's shame. 0-60 in 16.8 seconds. 8O

The Granada Taxi? Few people believe that they actually did a Taxi spec model. A truly sad w4nkers chariot complete with wipe clean vinyl seats.

Rumour has it Pete had that interior in one of his for his 3.30pm swareys to the local comp

I often hanker for one but it would have to be a MK2 2.8i Ghia X pack in 'Blue over silver' with the full grey leather interior, concorde style...!

The amount of these that had chrome arches added and were slammed on Merc AMG Penta alloys is horrendous...

My old man bought Chief Constable James Anderton's official police car from a police auction, it was tricked up with all sorts and went like a rocket.

I remember that episode. It was about four mad German terrorists - Bodie had to leave his Mark 2 Capri Ghia in a Henley car park, nicked a Cortina Mark 4 2.0GL Estate (in Roman Bronze) and diced all the way to a country house with the Krauts in an Audi 80.

They rammed the front door with a Tawny bronze 1972 Cortina 2000GXL. :D

Doyle was driving the 2.0L (Nevada beige). The L had a weird 2 spoke steering wheel as well - proper poverty.
