Must have pissed him off to see a f**king METRO in his rear mirror at every corner though!
(yes yes, I know it's a Group B spec machine, but still...)
Awesome machines, the lot of them. The way that M3 squats down every time the driver plants it, and the exhaust flames bursting out the side - majestic.

When the likes of Will gollop's Metro 6r4 and Martin Schanche's RS200 used to produce 800BHP (theoretically, to last races it was more like 700bhp or so) and being capable of 2 seconds 0-60 times (quicker than an F1 car of the time) then its not suprising they didn't just dissapear in a cloud of smoke and disintegrated rubber from when the lights went greenGrrrmachine wrote:Must have pissed him off to see a f**king METRO in his rear mirror at every corner though!

Used to work with a guy that raced rallycross, had a Mk3 RWD Escort that made 450 brake and could do a sub 3 sec 0-60. Mental machines but how much crap was coming out of the pipes?
Well I hope it was the pipes, but wouldn't the flames have burnt all the crap?

At 2:31, you can see him entering Druid corner on 3 wheels!
Amazing machines! Bit of a smoker though
Bloody hell, it's been so long since watching Rallycross, I'd forgotten all about it. Used to love it!! Do they still do it?? Not the kind of thing you see on screen anymore...
That vid was awesome, some seriously quick cars there being driven on the limit- love it

Friend of mine knew about this car and told me the specs on it
The 4WD system was designed and made by Xtrac, it had a secondary lever allowing you change the front to rear bias of the drive, push it forwards it put all the drive to the front wheels, all the way back and it became a RWD but allowed for it to be adjusted on the fly in a race, and was infinately changeable!
The engine was a masterpiece of engineering, Ari went to Williams at the end of the F1 turbo era, and brought up the BMW turbo bits... he then grafted them onto the M3 Evo engine ... Reputedly this engine was knocking off 800+bhp with ease.
Given how it gave Martin Schanche's RS200 a serious run for it's money, that's quite possible!
