now i know this dont look any where near decent and compared to the others iv seen on here it looks like a right shed but be that is it may, someone did ask to see some pics of the 60 quid bargain so here goes.. :o:

it definatly needs alot of attention to the body, i probably will respray it either lach silver, some sort of red, or keep it with the alpine white, which i will get round to eventually, at the moment the main focus is to get it running as smooth as possible and patching up the rust in the inner arches on both sides :x also couple of mechanical problems with the prop shaft at the moment thanking you so much previous onwer! plus my eagerness to take it for a spin, woops :o:

i would like to start some sort of repair/build project thread on here as i did with my mk2 golf on another site, so that people can share and comment on what im doing also throw pointers here or there, also so i can monitor what i spend on it, as im really forgetful lol so if anyone would be interested in seeing a thread for it then say so as it will give me the enthusiasim for posting one sort of thing lol
anyway thats that for today cheers .

For £60, you can't go wrong. Just make sure it's fundamentally/structurally sound before you start throwing cash at it.

I'd like to see a repair thread if you get around to it.

Good luck.

If you look near the top right corner of the site you'll see a button that says project blogs. You could try that but, speaking personally, I never look at them.

I'd start a new thread if I were you.

well been slowly cracking on with the repairs due to college and work, but after a nice argument with my manager i now have a lot more spare time on my hands so really been digging into it, so heres the updates so far...

all windows masked up, rear lights removed also took off the rear lip spoiler causing one dent rght on the edge in the process

Image

Image

Image

masked up the rear lighta debadged it, removed rear bumper and primed over sections of the car mainly the back

Image

now the reason for removing the lip spoiler, found this fibreglass rep now toying with the idea of putting it on or just smoothing the boot lid and leaving it without a spoiler all together im half decided both ways but decided to rub the spoiler down and prime it in case i do use it.

Image

Image

Image

now heres a couple of issues...

Image

right on the bottom of the back bumper and thers another one on the other side directly underneath the bumper iron thats bigger and badder, not 100% sure where to go with this any ideas people?

Image

this is just on the edge of where the boot mech sits, and further to the left is another one

Image

il either grind out and fibreglass over or cut it out replace with some sheet metal welded in and then fibregalss it over, best route?

this is as far as i got as i ran out of filler primer, so started with filling over other dents and scratches on the body whilst waiting for that to dry started fixing the idle issue on my golf blah blah blah lol wont be able to finish off the priming for a while as iv run out of cash due to the loss of work, so tommorow will just be focusing on the two dents on the bonnet and rear quarter and treating the rust on the arches and anywhere else i find it hopefully not that much! will update with more pics tommorow :D

£60 ! for a BMW !!! 8)

Nice work so far - look forward to seeing how it progresses.

IMO I wouldn't fit the spoiler unless you intend to fit the rest of the tech 2 kit - they look out of place without the rest of the kit.

absolute steal isnt it, to be fair the bloke did have it up for 250 quid at first but beat him right down with a bit of banter.

iv always wanted to fir the tech 2 kit but just cant afford anything along those lines so probably best if i dont fit it, think il just flush the boot, cheers for the advice

Image

fibreglassed the holes left by the lip spoiler and one deep dent on the corner of the wing that i couldnt beat out

Image

Image

took off the grill surround rubbed it down and primed, have actually sprayed it balck now with a 2k gunmetal black that i had lying about and iv added a silver flake mix to it couldnt take a photo as my battery died but will have dryed once i go back there so will lacquer harden it and take a pic, but looked really nice when i left it drying with the one coat.

Image

started with the wing mirrors, who knew it would actually be a bit of a bastard to get the cover off them without snapping the plastic bits that hold it in! :x typical lol anyway have now been rubbed down and primed

Image

this is where iv spent most time filling, the edge of the bonnet wheres its been dented and buckled, had to beat it and bend it back before filling it, have actually done 4 coats of filler to get it spot on, spent about 2-3 hours over two days in all rubbing it down and feathering it out, still needs one layer skimming over as well!

thats if so far as phone battery died so couldnt take ne more pictures, only carried on with rubbing down the bonnet filler and boot fibreglass aswell as rear wheel arches, did abit of welding up in this hole on the inner arch...

Image

the blackness within the red lines ins one big hole from rust the iv grined out and given a straight dege to, put sme sheet metal under it and tacked it to, will weld it up completely and fill in the center to cover up in bumps. and that is everythin g so far! :D

so small updates didnt get alot done as got drafted into repairing shattered front suspension coils on ford focus, one word of advice dont agree to do it for 20 quid... :x

said i was going to spray the grill black with the silver flake mixture added, done 3 coats of paint then lacquered,

Image

cant really make out the flake in the pic but its more of a subtle amount applied in the second coat didnt want it looking like a christmas tree lol

Image

all the fibreglass was rubbed off from the flushing fillered over the top have started rubbing that down

Image

now for the more painful bit -

Image

the whole length of the door and front arch the long dent and scratch i was on about, thats going to be 3 days of rubbing down seeing as my d.a. has died

another layer on the bonnet edge due to air bubbles from the former layer

ImageImage

same with the rear arch in abit of a rush with this one

Image

and thats all for tonight should hopefully get aload of rubbing down tommorow evening then straight onto the basecoat :D

Get some high quality products on that as soon as you've polished it. Cellulose starts oxidising almost instantly and will lose its shine after a couple of days out side if not protected well.

Out of interest, why not use 2k? not much in it price wise and would give a better finish.

what sort of products do you mean? didnt use 2k simply because im a novice sprayer and cellulose is the best to learn with, i would of liked to use 2k tho just for the finish, just not skilled enough yet really.
