I have argued the M20 thing with Paedo Paul many times, if it was mine I would have nice tarted up and freshly built M20 but he's set on the 24v donk
he's going to drive this shitbox like miss daisy so are all them horses needed?
on the other hand that fantastic iron block M52 that Dan built stormed the pod in 2009, nothing could keep up..
I suppose it's nice to have the extra power just incase !

Its the whole story behind the car, how and who it was ordered for and the spec and colour.
Save the power for a car that you can enjoy it in.
Just my opinion Paul.

It is more special - it's very special. Someone on the BMW production line was tapped on the shoulder one day and told 'Hey pal, paint that ONE car Missano Red just this ONCE' and that is EFFING COOL.

I expect it took quite a lot of string pulling to get that done !Royalratch wrote:It is more special - it's very special. Someone on the BMW production line was tapped on the shoulder one day and told 'Hey pal, paint that ONE car Missano Red just this ONCE' and that is EFFING COOL.

Germans do NOT like doing things out of order either.
Out of interest Diddler, what interior did it arrive with pre-abuse?

Or as Barry pointed out rightly in another thread, Becker Headunits never came out the factory with them either, you got one in yours!Come on Rachid, you're not bullet proof in the non-OEM area yourself, cough, clears

Lol.
You mean E30s never came out the factory with Beckers.
My car is nothing special and my HU is sheer perfection and looks more OEM than most OEM HU's or what most Zoners have in their cars for that matter. Beckers did make some OEMness from the E36 on so there's a vague validation there lol. Besides, a nice twin-knob HU with the correct amber illumination (one of 16 selectable
) is hardly doing the same damage as a KnightRider® re-trim.
Stop looking at these comments as negative criticism that illicit bitchy tit-for-tat responses and more as they are intended: opinions that may offer food for thought and nothing else - clearly the car is going to be a proper cracker.
@ B7 - Am working on the mats but for now I'd rather have nice new 'close enough' mats than manky OEM 'rightness'.

Exactly. Paul, this is a unique 325i. There is only one in the world like it. I really wouldn't fit an M52.Royalratch wrote:I dunno.

Save the 2.8 for something else, a car in which you're not scared to give the organ pedal the good news.
Yeah, what you said! I was in bed and slightly tired... That's me excuse anywayLol.

I'm not putting up "bitchy tit-for-tat comments" I just think there's a slight double standard there. Bit or red piping to offset the interior is hardly crime of the century, especially when it was done from brand new to the customers specification.

Guys thanks for all the comments wow, didnt think a moredoor turd would get this amount of attention
I thought long and hard about the engine in this one, keep M20 or something else, when Dan informed me that his 2.8 M52 was up for grabs thats what sealed the deal really.
I think if i couldnt have that engine then the M20 would have stayed.
I had a couple of brackets removed in the bay that would need to be replaced if a M20 was ever refitted, so can be reversed quite easily if required.
When finished from the outside it should look pretty much as it did new, except of course the alpina spoilers. I remember i asked the original owner about those and she told me she had considered them along with air-con but as the cost of the car had gone from £18,750 ish to £29.000 ish she couldnt justify any more expense, plus she liked the MTech 2 kit more
The interior as Andy siad is very 80's hence why i like it so much.
Ratch the car came with an Antrazit interior from the factory, in SE trim. It lasted about 3 days before it was removed and replaced with leather, i wonder if the trimmer still has it..............
When finished it will be getting its day up the pod, would be rude not too, no traier queen this one, it will be driven

As most 'verts came with horsehair mats (and I'm not a fan TBO) I thought I'd struck gold last weekend. A Glacier 316i with just 64k up with a full set of indigo horsehair mats. I took the drivers one (I knew the rears differ from a convertible) as it still had the heel mat with "made in west germany" on itRoyalratch wrote: @ B7 - Am working on the mats but for now I'd rather have nice new 'close enough' mats than manky OEM 'rightness'.
However, the f*cker don't fit!! they differ in the front as well.
So currently having the heel mat removed from the 65k mat and having it retro fitted to my drivers mat which I removed the heel mat from when I bought the car as it was crap.
Am I a sad man????

You are the reigning OEM champ - that is epic pedoness.
Wow! I would love to have the time to do a resto of that epicness! Well done - that is going to look amazing!!!
One question - that carpet you have in there looks brand new - is it? If so, where did you get it from (surely it's not still available from the stealers?), and how much was it?
Keep up the good work - I will be following this one

apart from clay-barring the underside and licking various parts clean I doubt it,goosiegander wrote:Any updates?
I heard a rumour that it may soon be donk time though
why not try a couple vinyl pinstripe? Silver, thick (5mm) just below the body crease and a thin one about 5mm below it about 25mm think. try it on photoshop see what you think, slightly different bit looks quite good depending on what you are after.

Got a few low quality pics of this when i visited paul the other week, might prompt him for an update. I have to stress that the pics dont do the car justice as the attention to detail paul is giving it is truely remarkable.
