my 318i engine passed away the other week and instead of fixing it im just going to do a 2.5 conversion for good measure.
im sure someone has asked this before but is it a straight swap?
diff? prop shaft? ecu? fuel pump?
if anyone could point me in the right direction i would be grateful
thanks aiden

- Location: Fife - You got a problem with that ?
engine and gubbins, gearbox, diff, rear disc conversion (?), struts, springs, shocks, ARBs, ECU, radiator, exhaust system, battery in boot conversion, front discs and pads, fuel pump, ABS system, check panel conversion, 6 pot speedo chip,
You should also do the timing belt and water pump, as well as a full service and all fluids before you put the lump in, unless you know it's been done recently.
there's probably more.....
Bottom line - just buy a 325i, it's much easier.

@dombret- as you have a 2.0 already you will need "engine- engine loom- ecu- prop"
My car was 320i and I did an m20b25 conversion on it using the above, straight in and out in the car same night

A 2 door e30 with 8 cylinders, what could be better

Pretty much everything OP - as topblag says, if you have a four-pot car, part it out and just buy a 325i. Or sell the chassis for whatever you can get if you can afford it. It will be cheaper and quicker.
The easier option is to fit a 318is engine. Still not a case of just bolting the new one in, but much less fuss.
