Are there any techical advantages over choosing the 24v M50 192bhp(?) over the 12v M30 211bhp to go into the E30? And which would be best for putting a turbo on afterwards? thanks

depends what litre m50
2.8 had 192 iirc correctly? m30 would weigh more
m30 would be better for turbo i would guess, as more people have done it??
you need help from heroes on this one
Dips346 has turbo'd an m30 also he might be able to help

10psi on M30B35 = 300rwhp
10psi on M50B25 non vanos = about 260-270rwhp with less low end

i was initially thinking of putting an M5 S38b38 engine in it, but so hard to find. so a m30b35 would be part a, part b would be to turbo that, so much fun!

I have a video somewhere of an M50B25 Turbo. It develops 374bhp I think.

I would say it depends on what you are doing with it.
I would imagine the 24v head ultimately can flow more exhaust gas out of it, so if you are going to drop the CR and start running it at 30psi in the search for 600bhp then you might be better going that route, but if its a low pressure turbo conversion on standard internals you are probably better off with the M30 lump.
What are your aims, as "i want to turbo it" is kind of vague.
