I swear my car's jinxed!
I was cleaning-up my replacement 'head this morning, ready to lift it on to the block and what do I find???????
A bloody hairline crack between the water jacket and no5 combustion chamber!!
So now I've had to strip the original 'head (cam, rockers and shafts out) and take it for an attempt at extraction.
Sharp intake of breath from the gadgie followed by "we'll have a go, but I can't guarantee(sp?) we won't wreck the 'head and I've no idea how long it will take"!
So now I've got to sit and wait.
.......and rely on Wor Lass running me about until I can get the Touring mobile again.
Why me?????
Stuart.
This is why I no longer drive an E30......

bad one stu, but on the plus side it is best that yuo have seen it now rather than find out once it is running and in the car.

No, I gave up on that. Was going to put it back together without changing the cambelt. It's only a year old, so it should be OK.
To be honest, I'm sick of the car again.
I'm seriously thinking of going real "Old School" and getting something with pushrods and an iron head! I never had any trouble with my cars 20 or more years ago.
When the Touring's OK, it's brill. But when anything needs doing to it, it always kick me in the teeth!

Cheers Jon,

Engine Services have been on the 'phone to say the 'head's ready.
I'm going to pick it up tomorrow and hopefully I can start re-assembling everything Thursday.
I'm cautiously optomistic now........
325i TB going on at the same time, and I've already put my 360mm steering wheel on, so maybe I'll fall in love again.
At least we've agreed to keep it until it finally drops to bits..........
Watch this space!

Jon, sorry I should have let you know sooner, but the 'head's back on now and running fine, so I won't be needing yours. Thanks anyway
Stuart
