I have a 1986 325 sport and my cam is on way out, at least that is what the mechanic suggested, I need advice on best/cheapest solution i.e. recon head or replacement cam or maybe something a little sportier if not too expensive.

Make sure its worn out first.

Changing the cam to a sportier one wil alter the characteristics of the engine so be careful. Youll also ideally need a remap to get it to run at its optimum.

I would fit a Schrick 272/272 personally.

Sorry I am a bit ignorant. How do I know if it is worn out?

Is a 272/272 a standard one?

You look at it and see if it looks worn.

A 272/272 is far from standard.

I have a spare 325i stock cam if you need one! Pm me if interested
