that touring would look good in the right hands :D . Im not a fan of yellow from a repair point of view as its always a biatch but on the right car it looks awesome.

this is the turd that I have dumped in the bottom of the yard,

believe it or not it is a 1 owner car with a gen 64k on the dash , he bought it from the gent that ordered it new,

it is morseled up beyond belief, every single box was ticked before the chq was handed over when it was new,
the bruv...er... owner has spent more on ///M badges than antifreeze, resulting in a nice swollen block and head that has split from front to back :?

why do some car owners spend their money on making the car look sick bruv, rather than making the car do what it should ?

I have handed in my offer to rescue this turd and bring it back to it's former glory, but he thinks it's worth more ?
incidentally that advert was listed after i gave him the bad news that a new thermostat wasn't going to work !

Suprise suprise, its a turd. It doesn't take long for a scummer to undo years of careful maintenance and care :(
The new radiator/waterpump/thermostat line usually translates into "i've cooked it and it's f4cked, innit"

Needs to be bought for a bag and have a 2.8 shoved up it :)

An unmolested dakar E36 M3 or Z3M coupe please!

The finance director for Chandlers BMW has an individual dakar E92 M3!
You lot think putting Dakar before the Yellow part means it's some kind of sophisticated colour with heritage and class?

IT-IS-YELL-OW!

No amount of options or engine can save that!

Bolllocks to any more alloy block M52 shite - I wouldn't trust one of those as far as I could throw it. Single Vanos iron age M50 2.5 is what that needs, after you've given 700 quid for it.

A grand Pete? You're going soft in your old age. :D

I wouldn't care if it was called M42 yellow, i would still like it!

I don't normally like yellow cars but i like the pale/pastel yellow Dakar is.

Who says an E36 will never be classic? they're on the way now I reckon. Another 5-10 years and these are going to be highly prized.

My Compact.....Hmmmm.

138'000 debatable miles. On it's second engine and diff, soon to be on gearbox number three when I can't ignore the Charles Atlas spec clutch pedal any more. Recorded Cat C write off due to a front end N/S prang which had been very, very badly repaired - I've done a lot to improve it by actually refitting all the missing plastics, arch liners, fan shroud....... It looks okay from ten feet after the Kosovans have worked their £10 magic but really, it's as rough as a bears arse. But it gets me about as a daily, does trackdays, scrapyard runs with engines in the back.....

The best £0 I ever spent really...........

Is the E36 compact a good old turd to have? There is one going tonight at my local car auction tonight. It's a 2000 black compact SE, mint interior (cloth) and its totally rust free apart from a tiny paint bubble on the o/s rear arch which could be put right using nothing more than sandpaper and paint. There are no mechanical leaks either. Only issues i can see is the front indicators and the n/s fog unit has condensation in them and the n/s mirror has a bit of insulation tape around the hinge part but is solid :? Also theres a few age related blemishes and tiny scratches on the paintwork as expected but nothing serious or large and would come up nice with a polish. Its got 78k miles on the clock and even the original bmw stereo. What does one think its worth as i am tempted to have a bid!

It went for 850 + 108 buyers cost so £958 all in. I should have put a bid on but i wasn't sure at the time what they were worth as the prices on ebay etc are all over the shop

Pretty cheap it was then :(

decent little compacts hold their value really well.

i paid £1200 for my 316 compact, it was on 100k miles, one owner, all the keys, fsh, no rust at all. looked superb when polished, and 2 years and 20k miles later i'm pretty sure i could have got the same back for it (but swapped it plus some cash with a mate for an e36 m3 evo  )
cheers,

harry

Feck sake :x

I was tempted to stick my hand up but the hammer went down before i decided

What was making me thing twice was there were a small list of advisories on the last MOT, stuff like osr tyre, front brake discs pitted and had a wobble when braking (probably due to discs) and surface corrosion on the brake pipes :? All the mileage was correct though. Its all possibly minor stuff but you don't really get to see what you've bought until you drive down the road but then its too late...
