Drove one a few times (the guy who built that house Barry) and I felt they were too stiff and over wheeled? i.e. the prifile on the tyres was just so unforgiving. Yes they handle really well but it tramlined all over the shop and unless the road was like a babys arse, the ride got very tiresome. And with the roads around smallfield like they are, added to the speed humps, it very tiresome very quickly indeed.

They are a birds/ gaylord chariot end of. The fact that you can't fit a set of wheels and an interior in the back is the final nail in the coffin
Surely that budget will get you something decent and useful ?

The original Chrysler engined Mini (the R50) was much, much better than the fatarsed R56. The have some dreadful Peugeot engine which sounds like a 90'000 mile A Series with tjhe timing chain hanging out.
For 6 grand, a nice R50 Cooper S is a deal. The go well, handle very well and are reasonably reliable. But the 25 grand a new one costs?...................hmmm, no.............
