Im having problems with ressetting the oil service light..its a pre facelift 323i
ive tried jumper wire to the connectors which reset it the first few tries, now it wont reset at all, car seems to be running fine no leaks from gaskets and runs pretty well, apart from the other minor problem..
its idling at 1500 and 2000 occasionally dipping down but still doesn't setlle fully,
any ideas help would be appreciated.

If you cannot reset the lights then the SI battery is flat , or you are not leaving the jumper in long enough, it can take several seconds.

Second issue sounds like an airleak in the inlet system, normally the big hose from afm to the throttle body.

Oil service lights now gone out, but without me doing anything, still got an inspection light though..is this meaning there could be a further fault?

I had a check over the hoses, the one from the airflow meter is fine, there is a split on one of the smaller hoses going from the inlet manifold but its under the clamp were it's split so i'm not sure if thats an issue?
Have calmed it down though, the throttle control bolt was sticking open due to being caked up, seems to be ticking nice and low now

cheers
