I know enough on ones plate, but one more won't hurt for a while? The 2 Alpinas are bored of each other! Well story on this is as follows. Text from Trevor on a friday night "325 on the bay buy it now £250" So we did. didn't matter about anything else as a hanging, hanging 325 can be broken for alot more than £250.. I'm it was linked up on the zone as Trev said the vultures would be on it quick!

Worst advert on ebay ever, no tax,MOT and the pictures were so sh!t you couldn't even work out how many doors it had. Notible highlight from the seller was scorpion exhaust!

Turned out after buy it now was clicked that it was infact MOT'd until March 2011, this was back in October gone. The seller had thought the MOT went out with the tax, oh and its got 2 doors!

So off we went to bournmouth, tro meet the skip lorry driver in a rather large council estate. We laughed at the yoofs in the street loitering next to our purchase, as we rolled up in my equally concil and at home 328 touring e36. We had the seller tax it for us and Trev insured it for £11 for the day and went to collect it.

Heres what greeted us

So thats as how she sat at my house after thew drive home. Sticky central locking, massive cracks in dash, bulbs gone in OBC, wolly front end and loud tappets. Lots of typical E30 issues but instead of being broken. I've taken the plunge and bought Trev out and its going to be revived into health, driven for a while and sold are the plans with it.

so there we are!

i'm not ill. Ill is buying a 220,000mile 328i e46 wanker and buying M3 leatherz and talking about resprays in different colours!

Moving onto plus points and not so plus points.

Who said seat covers don't work?! with 160,000 odd on the clock the interior bar the dash cracks is very good.

An inner arch without huge holes......

A totally f**ked battery tray.

Image
Repaired scuttle, not so good this

Image
pinky paint on both sides like this

Image
Minty headline without any marks, grubby finger prints etc on it. Makes a nice change from the norm. Also the roof skin is totally solid, Barry will attest this. rather hard to take a picture of it.

Image
Engine bay with just alarm being the only real bodge, few clips missing but generally all up together and no council cone filter and a gaffa taped up trottle body pipe!

My feelings on this have been, time, patience and knowledge could make this into a something nice again. Yes it needs some welding but just how many E30's don't? alot have been broken for less than this, but this is better than most of whats left in the 2 door variety. Plenty of crap sports, fake ones cabs and touring 325's left. But i think the 2door 325's have suffered a savage loss in numbers due to being the most popular body shapoe

I have to say it is better than either of us hoped / thought. To be brutally honest, we bought this as the next breaker but having got it home, assessed what we had, it was far to good to break (even though it goes against my grain!!! )

problem was, it needs some work. It will cost money to get up to scratch and doing the figures, theres just not enough in it for both of us. So we shook hands on Si buying me out for purely what it owes me. I know he'll do it justice :D

Those eagle eyed amonst us will notice the YRU plate? A very close reletive to the wheeler dealers F plate blue touring which also wore YRU with pride.

Now heres the best bit!

This thing has so much f*cking history it's untrue. I have here (yet to be handed to Si) a folder showing a virtually fully documented history. 15 oil changes with some years it having two changes. Regular cam belts, recent work at a BMW main dealer for head gasket and all the usual oil leaks and even a reciept for:

A BBA Star chip!

I drove it back from Bournmouth and it tramped home with reletively few issues. Usual dash maladies (a replacement cluster has sorted that) and a heater only blwoing on 1 and 4  but over all it went like a train. Held 80-90 all the way home with no glowing oil ights or flat batteries.

Saved just in time this one. :D

And we have been very careful to use the correct speedo head in the new cluster to keep the mileage right as supported by the immense history.

Would have been an easy clocker this but why hide anything on an honest car. After all 90% of these have done the miles.

Another reason I came out the deal. I don't have the time to finish my own car wthout bringing another back from the brink!

A couple of weekends breaking yeah but this takes dedication.

I beleive Adi is refering to a tech 1 spoiler sold on the bay recently for around that money. They seem to be going up in value at a crazy rate.

I swapped a tech 2 for a tech 1 not too long ago - I'm sure they were valued at around £40 so £160 is a bit of a shock 8O
