731 is the cylinder head casting number of a 320i

M20B20 = 320i engine

M20B23 = 323i engine

M20B25 = 325i engine

M20B27 = 525e engine (2.7)

So, a 320i head on a 2.7 block = fun

It's a :poke: at the Ԛ£1500-Ԛ£2000 2.7 conversions. I just don't have that kind of money to spend on my car.

that vid clip of the acceleration through the gears was impresive, good turn of speed without revving it into the stratosphere, the merits of 2.7 low down grunt I guess, I would have to be into the red to be seeing that acceleration

What are you running beemerlad.

In that clip, when I got into 4th I part throttled it and it still climbs from 60 to 70 pretty quickly.

Its not an all out power mod but it's certainly got quicker, the fuel consumptions got better too. I squeezed 35.5mpg out of it the other day.

whenever I try to do a sneaky vid of the clocks when giving it some welly there always seems to be traffic that spoils my fun, not that I should be doing it really :oops:

Mine is 2.5 late engine, polished head, K&N panel filter, Scorpion system off standard manifold (6 branch waiting to go on) FSE boost valve, Piper fast road cam, chipped. It allegedly made 192 on the rollers about 4 years ago when the mods were carried out but I have been unable to verify this as my mate lost the printout and the place where it was done do not keep records. He distinctly remembered the power figure owing to it being the same as the E36 325i power output. By putting on the 6 branch and ditching the scoprion I am hoping to get more power and an increase in torque.

Nice spec there and the power figure sounds right, that 6 branch should help too. Is it an equal length header jobbie??

I've got plenty to do to mine yet, I've got a spare mint head I'm going to flow and I will be shopping for 325i AFM/TB/Injectors/FPR when my finances recover a bit.
