Has anyone ever modded the lights one the e30 so that the fogs come on with the main beam but can also be operated independantly.

if so how did you do it.

if not, anyone have any ideas where to start, i would imagine you need to interupt the signal from the main beam relays and then use it to switch the realy for the front fogs....or am i going about it all wrong here.

mr moooore ......... help

cheers in advance guys

had a thought

would i be able to go from pin 56 on the head light dimmer switch (one to select flash, main beam, dipped beam) (pin 56 is the main beam on BTW)

this would then switch a new relay witch in turn would create a connection from the power for the fogs (from correct fuse) to the dead side of the front fogs switch, there for by passing the switch, therfore turning the lights on, and then off again when i resume dipped beam

would this also mean that they won't come on when i just flash either...as this is from a differnt pin in the headlight dimmer switch?

or have i just confused myself and everyone else

my fogs come on with the side lights on a standard car??!! dont yours?? picture below. they remain on with side lights, driving lights and main beam. the only time i cannot turn them on is when the lights are not on.

Is this normal?

if i switch them on manually, but i was talking about making them come on together with the same switch (main beam) so that when i have to dip them again, they both go off together and quickly without dazzeling other drivers

Why would you want fogs on with main beam ?
Completely defeats the purpose !

Off topic maybe, but it annoys the hell out of me when people drive around with their front fogs on in the absence of any fog. It's such a council look. :bolt:

True, but I think Chris is asking so that he can use the main beam when nobody else is coming (as you would normally) but have the fogs on for better vision.

I'd be interested it for the above reason as it'd save a few rabbits (and my front valance getting more bent) on single-track country roads etc.

Of course it'd look good when flashing the main beams to have the fogs come on as well winkeye

spot on Zayyan, i HATE front fogs with a passion unless there is fog. this is why i want to be able to switch them with main beam so that they can be turned off jsut as quickly, as to not dazzle any oncoming trraffic when it appears.

i don't drive with them on all the time (i think i've onlyy used them twice in 9 months of owning the car) and as Zayyan said, they give better vision of the sides of the road when used at night, but i don't want to dazzle oncomers, so i need to switch them off quickly as you would when driving with main beam on.

and i'm only looking to have them on when the main beam is on permanently, and then not when falshing.......so not to arrouse susspition to any jobsworth lilly law.
