buying a car from the Isle of Man is good as no MOT is needed. Is this correct? I understand this stands true until you register the car here. Would this mean when you fill in the V5?
Would buying an Isle Of Man car stand you up for buying an MOT iminnet failure dog??
I dunno, but would like your thoughts....
Quick thought about Isle of Man cars...

Any imported car including those from the Isle of Man have to be registered with DVLA. They are registered with a plate from the year of make not as a new vehicle so they still need MOTs.
There is a guy from Royton, near Manchester, who has had 2 or 3 IOM E30s on ebay over the last year and they have been low mileage minters. After all, how much mileage can you clock up on the IOM before you start getting dizzy from going round and round?

No idea whether they have MOTs on IOM, but I would have thought that rust would be a big problem with any motor cos you're never very far from the sea and all that salt!!!

you're right, the IOM does not have the Mot system over there, so if you buy and bring one to the UK, you'll have to Mot it a bit sharpish.
Also, as the island is quite small thereforwe the mileage is limited, the engines can suffer due to short usage, so a good service and a clean out when in the UK may throw up other problems, or give the car a new lease of life.
I know of a guy who imports purely from the Channel Islands, and this is a problem he has had with 75% of the cars he's brought over.
