Very nice car that one, had a good look round it at the NEC.

There is no way this is worth 10K. It's clearly a chancer who is riding the E30 wave at the mo, knows he has something a bit nice and is taking the pish.

......and how much does your 318iS owe you? More than 10 grand I'll wager.
Anyone can 'price cars to sell', and it's a mugs game. You ever heard the old analogy about the antique that wouldn't sell until the price was high enough? That's what successful antique dealers and classic car dealers do. They price something high enough for the owners of 165'000 miles shitbox 325i Convertibles with dings in every panel, Spamex 90mm lowering springs and GRP bodykits to say 'fuckinell, I only paid 654 quid for mine'. That's because their cars are patched up rubbish that will never be worth a cup of cold p1ss, and this is clearly quite exceptional and virtually irreplaceable

What many fail to realise is that if you decided you wanted an absolutely mint, never painted/welded/fuckedaboutwith 325i Convertible and you are a person of means, then £10'500 is not a lot of money. Go and look at what £10'500 will buy you in terms of a new car - some sad shitbox Corsa or Fiesta.

I'd want strong money for this car as well. And to anyone who says 'I can buy one for half the price' - well ****.off then, and the best of luck to you..

Ratch's 318iS is worth £5-6000 to the right buyer. Most 318iS's are tatty old shitbags and I doubt there are many (any?) as comprehensively sorted as this one.
You do have to look at what else you can get for the dough to put in context. It's nice, but nicer than a minty Maser Ghili/Khamsin etc? And if this is an E30 to be mothballed and not driven then what's the point of paying that - common garden variety E30's are not yet at that point to be stored away and leered over at - decent 325i E30s are still too around enough that this seller can't be saying he has something irreplaceable.

I never think in terms of what it owes me - it's not an 'investment' in that sense. Though I doubt it would be 10K... There's no way it's worth more than £4G even to an Indigo 4-pot deviant. If I spend another 3-4 grand on wider rear wheels, LSD and some bags of blow pressed into the steering wheel then I could get it there lol.

A Maserati Giblet/Khasi is a nice thing to park up and look at. Apart from that it's a fast but hateful piece of Italian scrap that will cost an absolute fortune to run and will never go up in value. I wouldn't give you 20 pence for one.

A nice E30 325i Convertible will be practical and easy to run, very cheap to service and pleasant to drive. A cambelt every 2-3 years, oil and coolant change every year, maybe a 30 quid set of brake pads every 2-3 years. It needs to be used on the odd weekend, and how nice would it be cruising around the Mosal/Rhine valley in the summer? 2-3000 miles a year won't ruin the value.
Me? I wouldn't pay 10k either, it doesn't float my boat enough. But someone will pay that, eventually.

Yeh but you can't think of everything in terms of future value, reliability etc etc - when it comes down to it, where would you put your 10G.

Not on some Italian money pit landfill.

An E34 Alpina Bi Turbo would get my 10 large.

Reliabilty, exclusivity, shattering performance, ok looks and It will always hold or increase its value.

Yes an air cooled 911 would also rank high but a budget of 10k isnt enough for something tasty.

I seem to recall that 911's were galvanised from the late 70's onwards.

This is more like it!

I knew you were on about the gay one. The R107 is way nicer but don't think you can get the 500 for 10K.

This one and the 850i are both bent.

It needs to be a W124 E500 or 500E.

Only R107 or older SL's are cool.
