Just an odd one. On an M50 & e36 steering rack swap would the M3 header clear? I mean if it clears on the E36 i should clear in the E30 right?

Now that i think about what about any aftermarket header for the e36 325/8?

The M3 headers need a lot of modding just to fit in the E30, even without the E36 rack. The E36 is wider so the E30 bulkhead gets in the way of the headers.

Im doing this at the moment (S50 conversion with the E36 rack) and fitting the manifolds is a right PITA.

Will the S50 headers even bolt onto an M50??

from what ive been reading on bimmerforums the e36 m3 manifold will bolt onto the 325/328 so im only assuming the euro versions would as well.

what are you doing for manifolds then? the odb2 manifolds modified in the same manner as ive seen posted or what?

My manifolds were cut, bent and had new pipes welded in to get them to fit around the steering joint and clear the subframe/ARB and bulkhead.

Got them both fitted in place about 2 weeks ago and found one of them was hitting the ARB, so they have to come out again and be re-worked

Havent got round to doing anything about it yet 'cause Im working nights again until Xmas, so I dont have much time.

Have a look here http://www.e30zone.co.uk/modules.php?na ... ic&t=18519
Theres a good pic of an S50 manifold fitted into the E30.
