The front part of my centre console (the bit with the electric window switches) is broken where the tabs from the rear console 'plug in' I was just about to get a replacement, when I realised some of the foam has been cut away so the wires to the EH switch (the circular gearbox switch) will clear. I presume this makes the small area under the tab cut out on the front piece weak and maybe sometime in the past, the rear section has been leant on breaking through the tab cut out.
I wondered if anyone else who has a switchable auto also has a broken front console, or whether anyone has devised a way to fix it, as the front and rear consoles don't line up, the right tab has nothing to sit on.
Not the easiest thing to describe really, but I'm sure a lot of you will know what I'm talking about.
If pics would help I'll try and post some up.
thanks
dan

dont have the same problem but know what you mean though, i presume you mean the bit just above the headrest (in the picture below) slotting into the window switch console.
maybe yours was broken or weak before!
get to a srappie and grab a brand new second hand unit.

Had mine out at the weekend - took all the seats and rear door cards out to Waxoyl the inner arches, tighten up wax soak the seats and generally have a clean 'under the fridge' if you know what I mean. Took out the back part of the consul/handbrake shrowd and noticed the very same thing - the right hand lug was missing/snapped off. Looked like a previous owner had dedicated car phone in there at some time as I found some extra wires and a phone socket. Don't think they are meant to be like that especially as it's only then held in place by the one screw in the rear ashtray I reassembled all my consul/dashboard parts with a splash of silicon spray where parts touch which stops any squeeks and creeks. Interior all very quiet and solid again now - except for the wife's rubbish in the glove box!
