Without viewing none of us can seriously comment. That is very strong money. It's ultra low mileage WLN money. However. it does look a seriously nice car. Deserves better pictures and a better ad. Could be that the owner has waited for spring to maximise his money.
Personally, I've always thought the "sell a convertible in spring" is a load of shite. If it's a seriously nice car and a specific model (anyone wanting an e30 vert wants an e30 vert) then the time of year is irrelevant.

No i doubt it very much that its Crouch selling.

What do you reckon the "real world" value of this cab is though? £7k?

Private sale? Spec looks okay. If the history file is huge? And it's virtually un marked? Maybe £5.5k I'd say.E30BeemerLad wrote:What do you reckon the "real world" value of this cab is though? £7k?
Reputable dealer, detailed and warranted with a good tail wind? £6 -7k maybe, but they'd still need to have luck on their side TBO.
We have to remember Motorsport values here. And despite being a very nice motah, it ain't no motorsport.

IMO you can't beat a straight original chrome car with no body kit or spoiler.E30BeemerLad wrote:Personally I'd take a clean chromie cab like this or yours Trev over a Motorsport any day of the week.
However, value (I think) it all hinges on rarity. When you actually analyse a motorsport, theres nothing mechanically different (apart from sport suspension and LSD of which both were available as options on lesser models) between a standard convertible a said motorsport. However, what you do have is rarity. And as much as prices are on the up, the Motorsport will always demand a healthy premium over say a white 325i F plate convertible
I'd have one (purely because they are sought after and rarer) but it would have to be either a tech 1 sebring car or one of the last Calypso or mauritious with the lotus interior cars. Personally, you can keep your bubble leather or Macau blues. But then its personal taste I suppose.

92 would put it on a J. All of which starts making a smell in this instance. I suppose it could have been sitting about before registration?daimlerman wrote:But is that a '92 car?

some cars did filter through on later plates but with chrome bumpers as they sat around for a while waiting to be registered.
I dont understand the flaming thing when someone advertises their car for a seemingly high price, its only an offer of sale after all and they arent scamming anyone. If someone views the car and likes what they see enough to buy it then so what, if not he may decide to reconsider his price.

This one needs to be right to command the asking, low miles needs back up from it's history etc.
No doubt that good, low miles cars will get strong money, and this filters down to help those that are not quite that nice!
Pacerpete made a very revealing comment the other day regarding location, something along the lines of,' good cars have a good background to the photos'....this one looks like an industrial estate to me...

Its the rule here, put your e30 up for sale and it must be flamed by the zone. unless is an unmolested and original m3 for £500 that is.beardymat wrote:I dont understand the flaming thing when someone advertises their car for a seemingly high price, its only an offer of sale after all and they arent scamming anyone. That Irish guy had a Silver one with Indigo leather that had even less miles than that - really stunning. He wanted less than this one...
normally the people doing the flaming have no intention or means to look at or buy the said car, which pee pee me off!!beardymat wrote: I dont understand the flaming thing when someone advertises their car for a seemingly high price, its only an offer of sale after all and they arent scamming anyone. This is my '91 facelift as it arrived at mine...

The one advertised is clearly a chromie,so should not be wearing a K plate...

This is standard in Canada/North America. Everyone who has a vert things that their car is soo rare and special so it has to be worth the same as an m3... It's a stock e30 with an m20 of all things hold (sorry for those who like them but I don't). These people need to get over themselves. Don't get me wrong, I like the verts and e30's in general, I have worshiped them since I had a drivers licence. But people need to get realistic with their prices. That's why I like this country, not too many people are so out to lunch on their prices. Everyone is fair and reasonable.

Most E30's clocked up the miles and got abused in the first 3 years of ownership by thrusting executive type's, (esp top spec motors like this one) very much like any new BMW does now, ?
with a mere 40k on the dash in 18 years, it's possible that this was unregistered for a few years after manufacture or maybe imported in 1992 ?
it's the owners decision and he wants 10k for it, it's his car and surely it's up to him to decide the asking price , it's hard to value something like this when you consider the abused and counciled up tech 2 examples that fetch 6-7 k this is a bargain !!
there's probably very few in perfect unrestored condition ?

i always say build your E30 to be as nice as that? You'll be over 10k in a blink plus your car will still be a 10 owner, 140,000 mile w*nker with part history, this won't. Mint original low mile unrestored motors command the premium. They are the cream, the rest i think gets priced around them

Yes it's nice, yes it's rare but in the context of other 10K cars no effin' way.
There is no way this is worth 10K. It's clearly a chancer who is riding the E30 wave at the mo, knows he has something a bit nice and is taking the pish.

its good spec, whats not to like. I'd be keeping the munich bellends servicing out of the ad.
Nothing ever sells for its asking price! We should be happy if it pulls 8 say from the 10 price being realistic

Money can't buy you low miles and unmolested.. Well it can, but not in retrospect. Overpriced maybe, but if it is as good as it looks, it is worth good money all day long, just needs the non e30zone dwelling e30 fan to step up with the readies..
