Does anyone know where to get GrpN or similar valved inverted bilsteins? I thought you could get them from the dealer but my local one is so unhelpful that I thought I'd ask on here first.
If theres a part number available that would be even better

There are two versions of Grp N Billies.
Front 235/270 (damping rates) 31 32 2 221 922
Rear 165/179 33 52 2 221 909
This is the so called "rain setup"
or
Front 300/300 31 32 2 483 088
Rear 200/200 33 52 2 483 087
I have the rain setup but was thinking of changing to the stiffer ones.
Grp N springs are 120n Front and 180N rear

Thatt should do the job! Excelent thanks.
I assume that any BMW dealer will recongise these part numbers? Or is there a special motorsport ETK?

As far as I know any BMW dealer should be able to use these numbers. But the E30 has now moved over to the Mobile Tradition section of the EPC, maybe this gives a few parts counter guys a little headache.martinpallot wrote:Thatt should do the job! Excelent thanks.

What are your plans if you don't mind me asking?
If you have a set of B8 Billies, they can be revalved to the Grp N specs. That's a lot cheaper than buying all new shocks.
And they will NOT be adjustable which I sometimes miss. Especially driving to the track and home. Even the softer ones are a PIA on the road, I don't even drive to the petrol station and back anymore

Its for my rally car. It runs 600lb springs and the Fk shocks that were on it aren't able to cope with anything over 450lb.
I do have a set of B8's here off a Tech 1 sport but they are quite manky and wasnt sure how cost efficient it would be to get them rebuilt and revalved, nor where is the best place to get it done.
I've also been in contact with AVO and they said they can do me a pair of 40mm inverted 2 way adjustables for £800 with remote canisters, might be the way to go in the long run in terms of adjustability?

I am not sure Avo would be my 1st port of call for a quality shock..
B8's wont like above 400lbs..
Would you use the adjustability? If no then stick with the Grp.N's imo..

The quality worried me too, although their higher end stuff is supposed to be quite good from what ive heard. The fact that the guy used no punctuation in his emails didnt fill me with confidence either.Jhonno wrote:I am not sure Avo would be my 1st port of call for a quality shock..

A good point IMHO. A lot of people choose adjustables because they assume they're getting the best products, but for most people non-adjustables would be a better solution.Jhonno wrote:Would you use the adjustability? If no then stick with the Grp.N's imo..

PM me with a price, only really need front inserts though as I have rear bilstein coilovers and springs for the front already.
Dont worry about it if you're not willing to split as I'll just get the b6's I have revalved if needs be.
