I just thought I'd post up the pics I took the other week when I gave the car a quick Autoglym SRP, she scrubbed up okay I thought :)

Good looking chromie, I think I've seen this car parked in the newtown, could be wrong.

Keep an eye on the meets section as there are loads of Zoners in this part of Scotland and we often have meets (sometimes up at the Falkirk Wheel). There will be one organised soon I think.

Cheers, at the moment it's a £450 car with £100 of alloys so I think it's alright!

It's occasionally outside my mum's in Stockbridge when I visit, I stay in Granton for now :o: , I'll be back in Midlothian soon though :D.

Just thought I'd update this seeing as there's been a bit of progress.

Last May I bought a 325 Sport engine and gearbox and swapped it in over a long weekend. For a £100 engine it went rather well and when I fitted a 4.25 diff it went better still. It gained a rather loud Scorpion exhaust and stayed like that over the summer. I think I did around 600 miles.
In September I helped break a 540i and got the engine for buttons with the view to building a bit of a sleeper. I soon decided that that it was a shite idea and wasn't going to end well.
I sold the engine (and made a decent profit) which was spent on an M52B28 crank and rebore for the old 320 block.
The idea was just to throw something fun together without going mad and spending loads of money.

Unfortunately when it found itself in a nice (cold) unit I got a bit carried away with the taking bits off and poking.

Looking through the forum it seems that I'm just suffering the usual parts, the the boot area seems suspiciously good though.

I've decided that I'm going to stick with it and fix it properly, I know it's a more-door  but I'm a bit attached to this car (which is dangerous, I know!).

The plans for now are to make it into a bit of an Alpina rep with a nice M20B28 up front.

A bit like this but in Alpina blau.....

Cheers!

Another day of stripping it and playing the poking game has found some more nasties, the nearside inner arch finally gave in and burst through :( , still, I'm not too upset about it yet, if I'm going to do this, I'm going to do it right. Seeing Grrrrmachine's and Jim's threads is giving me some motivation knowing I'm not the only one!

Engine's out...
Image

Wiring loom's out, need to remember to put my old steering wheel on before the Tech is fucked with paint....
Image

Quite a lot of parts in an old E30, spent more on boxes than the car it seems!
Image

Found this on the bulkhead, hopefully it's not terminal.....
Image

The battery tray finally gave it too, passed the screwdriver test but failed with the grinder :( .....
Image

Lots of metal to be replaced it seems but it should result in a very solid shell which should last me a while!
It should help my welding skills improve too, given they're a bit rusty.....

Good luck - hope the workshop warms up!

It's such a great looking car without the Alpina bits.
