Steve, I'm used to regularly pass this car when delivering on an Industrial Estate in Henley, it looked nice & I'm so glad its being saved. Will be closely following this.

thought i had better take a quick look at the Big brakes and see what is needed... the Alpina discs are fooked
these things are Big and Heavy! here's a pic next to an normal 325i disc...

and still bigger than these Wilwood discs,

Calipers are a lot bigger too , I am sure someone mentioned that the Pads are used on something else ?

with these Brakes and an M30 up front I doubt it will be very good in the twisty roads of yorkshire...

Steve i'm going to make a trip soon with the relevent bits to Keri. Let him do his thing to get a more affordable solution for a few of us with these brakes. They are awsome when in good condition.
BMW want about £200 PER disc
The calipers are merc w124 3.0 ones. Also the 190 cosworth uses them too. Pads are £19 for bosch ones from GSF. The calipers on service exhange are about £45 for a minty refurbed one. If you can put up with a merc logo on the new ones. The caliper bracket is the money item. As its a bespoke item that bolts a merc caliper to an E30 strut. Don't lose them!! can replace the rest but not these.
Steve, whats the master cylinder off for the brakes? it wont be a stock 325i at a guess.

Nice one Si, keep us up to date with the discs, so 190e cozzy pads fit ? don't really want a Merc emblem on the calipers... and no , I won't lose them (i hope )

I might have a contact with a caliper refurb company so may be able to get yours done without exchanging for merc items. It's a friend of a friend kinda deal so only 50 50 till I can ask the question.
There are other options of course like rebuilding them yourself with a little outside electro plating.

I have some 540 calipers to do soon Steve if you want to send them stripped down I can have them done at the same time, got a great contact for rust removal (place that did Dezzys block) and I use the backdoor of the zinc platers

I will be having mine linished again to make them nice and smooooth like these rears I had done

The zinc platers I use do calipers for the local refurb place, they told me they use a 'lesser' plating just because it sticks better to the half arsed sandblasted state that they come in. Something bleach its called, looks kind of washed out

no you want ones for the w124 300 E. So the big petrol ones. The merc logo on the exhange calipers is tiny and you can't see it with the wheels on!
try GSF, i doubt you will refurb them yourself for less than they charge with more aggro dealing with snapped bleed nipples, running about, buying seal kits etc
I did the diy refurb on my rear calipers as ECP/GSF wanted £70-80 per caliper and they are tiny!

See how that caliper in the ebay link has rusted in the box, thats the same 'bleach' coating they use on most recon calipers.
Diddler has seen mine up close and thinks they are the tits when I was picking faults
I had those sandblasted as I didnt know about the derusting place at the time, I also had a set done for town325 that were derusted and finished in chemical black, I think Paul will be having his rears done like this

I didnt see my block in the flesh but you can tell that it was brand new by the paint job on it.
The finish Dan applied after it had been dipped was brushed on.

It looks the nuts up close.
Shame you dont see any of it once its in the car
