Hi!
I have a 1988 e30 cabby and want to do an engine swap. Am swaying towards a 3.2 s50 but need to find someone to fit it, if I source it. Or if any anyone wants to supply and fit, or has another idea then please let me know.
Am looking at getting this done soon.
Thanks

I think you'll find alot of people would not recommend the S50 for a cab, as you'll need to seam weld the shell due to the power of the engine.
What you'll find if you don't do this is the shell starting to have cracks appearing.
If you want a cuiser, fit the M30b35, you can roll around in 5th at 25mph and no need to change gear, put your foot down and go upto moe than teice the speed limit.

Wow big price difference!
What output does that engine have? What does it come out of? Have you had the conversion done?

I meant £1.5k plus engine on the M30.
Yes I have had the conversion and it's been running well for over 2 yrs.

It's a pretty simle conversion to do, can be done over 3 days if all the parts are to hand.
Theres and engine in the For sale section atm.
Where are you based?

Big power in a cab requires a lot of work. This is mainly due to the extra weight BMW had to add to keep the car strong due to it having a distinct lack of roof. If your requirements are sharp handling and performance, start with a saloon.Tally wrote:Thanks for reply and info. I'm clueless with engines! What would this conversion roughly cost?
