Waste of money, believe it or not but the engineers who designed the e30 knew a thing or two about how these things worked, hence why the standard box has a cold air feed. Changing the filter in the standard box is about as a good a modification as you need.
Only advantage to some "induction" kits is they make more noise, so if that floats your boat the fit one.

Agreed, it always surprises me that some think a £50 bit of aftermarket tat is going to give there car more power and sound like a race car. Why take off something that was designed for the car by BMW and works as it should and replace it with some generic rubbish is beyond me.mrLEE30 wrote:Waste of money, believe it or not but the engineers who designed the e30 knew a thing or two about how these things worked, hence why the standard box has a cold air feed. Because the advert claim correctly that gains of up to several up can be made, of course he words up to are a clue, a 0 hp gain qualifies. Not an issue in uk but here on newer cars the lads face lots of air mass meter issues when using cone filters as they do no work as well as panel filters, especially if not oiled. The cone type alllow dust into the meter which ruins the sensors, so just think what they do to your engine.

Aftermarket cones are uterly useless on these, proven losses of torque have been reported and in 1 issue of performance bmw mag last year this was confirmed in a multi page "m20 tuning guide" by A-tech racing I believe. Bmw airboxes are proven to be the best form of intake
A 2 door e30 with 8 cylinders, what could be better

Paper panel filters work best and require minimal maintenance save for replacing when really dirty, foam filters require regular oiling and cleaning.mattqf77 wrote:Will K&N panel filter in box let dust through also??
So it depends what type you have, and the environment you drive in.
