s50 engine swap

hi,i am in the process of fitting a s50b32 engine in my e30,when i changed the sump over i noticed that on the m3 sump ther is a small black tube coming from the air intake to the sump,but on the 525 sump ther is no conection for it,is this just blanked off?can anyone help?

that pipe needs to be fitted.
you could either 'tap & die' the sump, and put a fitting there to put the pipe to,
or you could weld a small tube to the bottom part of the dipstick tube and attatch the pipe there. or you could get someone to ally weld a fitting on the sump to attatch the pipe to.

i have been told to blank them off and it wont cause a problem,what are they actually for?

Could you not run it to a catch tank? Suppose it would still need a feed to the sump?

It's only to drain oil that ends up in the plenum..

i thought it was part of the crankcase ventilation, as well as an oil drain return?
