I am buying this 328i for a conversion. I read the sticky where says use an E36 radiator. Will this radiator that comes with the 328i be OK? I am concerned about the expansion tank and the possible proximity to the engine.

I've used an e36 328 rad on my conversion mate and its fine, means you can get rid of the e30 expansion tank.
Only difference with mine is the coolant tank is on the other side of the rad but it will be okay.
You will need another drivers side rad mount (e30) for the 328 rad to sit on

Am i correct in thinking it needs to be an aircon rad? Can't remember why i have that in my head, perhaps i read it somewhere?e30-dk wrote:I've used an e36 328 rad on my conversion mate and its fine, means you can get rid of the e30 expansion tank.

On that note I've used an e34 "aircon fan" as my electric fan setup and a 328 rad guys

That car looks to have aircon, or an electric fan as I can just see a fan switch in the side of the rad. Looks like you will have two rads to take your pick of

Most aftermarket/replacement rads will have the boss for a switch, the aircon spec rad is preferred as its about 100mm deeper at the bottom so gives a nice chunk of extra cooling capacity
