Well...
According to this month's Classic and Sports Car the E30 M3 has:
'A bit of a chavvy image now'
I'm incensed. They called the E30 'anonymous' a few months back too.
I think it's time to write a stern letter. If the M3 is 'chavvy' what does that make my iS!!!

Two headblenders, couple of bags of MC Hammer, 5 litres of FFF, a 48ft bastard, a box of jumped-up custard and some soggy chimps
sorry but the amount of turded e36's that had m3 kits on is pure wrongness. It's bloody hard to make a good replica e30 M3 and the value of them is far from chavy.

We shouldn't concern ourselves with the opinions of the tweed British Leyland enthusiast crowd...
...probably the same people who will dub the Austin Allegro as "edgy" and "sophisticated for it's time".
Fools!

Autoalex, do you know Martin Buckley then?
Have a word with him, tell him to do a showdown along the lines of E30 325i or iS v contemporary Alfa/Audi etc.
And make sure the E30 is dog dick red...

Most Chavs have to scrape to buy a £1000 saxo and a sovereign ring, an M3 starts at 8k for a rotten turd ...it's a no brainer !

Just shows how far off the mark they are.

E36 has a much worse perceived image than the E36. Nothing says council more than a ropey smoking E36 320i on 18 inch budget rimz, chrome arches, chrome door handles and wikid body kit.
Incidentally, what was their reference point? Which cars were they comparing the E30 to?

Sold: 1986 E30 325i Cabriolet, Alpine White

The e46 is now in the price range of your normal sovriegn wearing types.
This "publication" really needs to get much better researchers to look into things.

still no excuse for not updating their database. It's very bad web management and reflects badly on them as a company if their data is 9 years out of date.Blitz wrote:That was in 2002 though.Rich_W wrote:I just tried their valuation thingy on their site

I don't know Martin but have seen him on occasion. I'm more familiar with the editor and staff writers. Incidentally, one of the guy's cars is a beautiful 2002

Unfortunately chaps any old BMW is chavvy, it’s my only gripe with owning my E30.
There are lots of chavs out there that can afford an E30 M3 seeing as a lot of chavs make their money from selling crack, cocaine and heroin which from what I hear are all well paid jobs.
Fact is everybody who’s everybody recognises the BMW badge as being one of the following Cool, Fast, Quality, Bling etc etc all of which your common garden chav aspires to and seeing as decent BMW’s can be had for penny’s these days the chavs are snapping em up. For those few lucky chavs who have sold enough bags of crack that month they may well venture in to E30 M3 territory.
Look at Burberry started off as an expensive quality brand that only the rich and famous used to wear and now its more at home in your local council estate chip shop

I don't know many drug dealers running around in E30 M3's, not my way anyway.
The big dealers who live the life of luxury might have a M3 parked up in the garage but them fella's can afford the best and won't parade around selling wraps for £ enter your own price !
Does it really matter what they say ??
Most drivers hate the BMW driver so who cares.

I'm not sure about that. Ime the E30 M3 is not the car of choice for drug dealers. I think you're confusing it with this:pac1982 wrote:Unfortunately chaps any old BMW is chavvy, it’s my only gripe with owning my E30.

either way if that is the car choice of chavvy drug dealer it blows the argument of an E30 M3 being to expensive for em out of the water.George wrote:I'm not sure about that. Some folk seem to have missed the fact that the valuations were given in a 2002 copy of the magazine. I imagine that if they were to value them now, you'd be looking at a few shekels more. . . .ivqii wrote:Anyone got a show condtion M3 for sale?

They might be able to afford one, but the M3 doesn't have the image they want..
They are all tooling about in E46 M3 Convertibles, and stupid 4x4's with bling rims
