Take the rollers thing up with Si. They are not for my car but part of a batch I did mainly for him but threw my Cruise bracket in at the same time. He wanted a pair to see what they would look like. They came off the SA turd we broke and they were yellow passivated originally. Not sure if he'll use them or not. They do look nice though.

Yes Gareth, there is another pasivate mate. It's called Blue passivate although when the parts are done, its clear. If you flick it in light when dry it almost gives an irredescent rainbow effect. I have done the fan blade on the replacement alternator in it. I'll photo late the look.

OK. It's 99.9% complete and could be put on all 4's again. But I still need to bleed the brakes, refill the diff and plumb the front fuel pipes up.

The driveshafts were proving difficult to get in so heres a B7 way of doing it. I knew that scissor jack would come in handy on day.

and drive shafts bolted up using newly passivated bolts and C washers.

I will confess that overall I'm a little disappointed at the overall look. I wish I'd spent a bit longer on the floorpans now and the rust coming through already on the diff is p1ssing me right off! But I have to keep riminding myself of my original plan for this car. It was never going to be concours. Been there! Done that! It was to produce a very clean car that wouldn't stress me out if I had to use it in the wet. And I recon it's just about there.

Heres a shot of the clear passivation on the Alternator fan. The pulley was left alone as it appears galvanised and therefore, attempts to plate would wreck it.




And heres a question for you. YES or NO???

This trim came on the cirrus blue convertible we broke recently and I'm just not sure. It's rare on a chrome car to see these and if I was to keep the look, I'd need to buy new as the alarm LED in my car is obviously in a defferent place to the cirrus cars

Looking good, i love this car. I seen it at gaydon a few years ago and was so impressed how original and fresh it looks. A proper car.

I would leave the trim off.

Stuff like this always looks a lot worse with a camera flash, I bet that looks more than acceptable in the flesh. Like you say, where do you stop and how much of a limit does that put on when you can use the car.

That's some tarty undercarriage right there Personally, i'd be more than happy with that. like you say, it's usable now. Any more and you'd miss out on the best bit of E30 ownership, driving the thing!

The clear/blue passivate gives a very nice original finish doesn't it

Trev, there needs to be a photo of the whole car to give a view of the new piece of trim. My initial impression, like topless, is that it looks good on a white car. I think your paintwork looks very good so it might not really be required. The trim - was it designed to keep chromie customers happy when the new plastic bumper models came out?

I'm not sure on the trim re why or when they started to produce it. It does break the back of the car up a touch as in White with the small lights, they can look a bit......? Bright or dare I say, Bland?

Thanks for the kind comments. Once the cruise controls fitted that WILL be it for a couple of years. I just want to drive it now. Put a few miles on it and truly bed everything in.

No, it's never had a full feature. I was contacted but the car was up on stands and out of action.

I meant to photo the interior today as well. I fitted the new throttle pedal today and I've not yet shown my lucky find in the breakers a while back. An "as new" complete with full grain on the leather, tech 1 steering wheel. It came off an ultra low mile scrappage e34 535i. It really looks like its come out the box. Not yet captained the ship with it yet though

I never noticed it either when Martin and I picked it up. It wasn't until I popped over on the way back from work and collected the carpet that I noticed it. I whipped it off then.

I think it may have to stay then.

The trim looks ok Trev and the undercarriage looks good to. You don't want it too nice or you will limit the usage of it.

I did miss it yes. In fact over the last few years it's seem even more limited use that it should have as I've had other convertible with which to enjoy the weather. I had that S Limited Eunos I rebuilt as well as the e36 323i convertible the wife was using as well as this car . Inevitably, as this was always garaged, the other two were easier to use and had a certain novelty value due to being reletively new to us. Then came a certain e39 530 which also took my attention in more ways than one and the fact it's seen one engine rebuild and this rear end work it's seen VERY few miles hit the odeometer in the last 2 - 3 years really

I now need to use it in anger

Thats interesting Dan. I was actually standing with a cup of tea yesterday, looking at it trying to decide what I liked or disliked about it and one of the things I thought was that it actually picked the chrome out more on the rear due to the light colour? But I know what you mean. If it was a dechrome white car, this would break it up.

Any more opinions. I'm kinda leaning towards keeping the look. A pony daaaawn the stealers ain't gonna break the ban like!

I've just put the black trim on my white turd, i was amazed it was still available from the stealers tbh and for not too much ££. Mine does have colour coded bumpers and other catalogue cheese stuck to it so it seems to disappear amoungst the tat
