Just been re-reading the sticky for installing an M50 etc,
Some are using / have used the standard M50 525i rubber engine mounts, others say use / have used the E28 M5 mounts,
Whats the difference & which is better ?
Thanks,
:D

The M5 mounts are obviously stronger, ive been using S38 mounts lately as the square shaped M5 mounts failed on me

Are the s38 mounts a straight fit Dan? I might try them on the s54 instead of the AKG ones. surely must be cheaper.

The e28 m5 ones are about an inch taller than m20 ones! When you use the e28 ones you will see that the extra inch clearance is vital (sump-steering rack!!)
Also I would say they are stronger to.

I have put up a pick of the 2 side by side in one of my threads in this section :)

No difference mate, you need 2 of the hockey puck shapped ones. Not sure if they are left or right side tbh.
It used to be 1 hockey puck mount and 1 metal square mount but these are shite and break so just buy 2 of the round rubber ones.
Did you find the pic I mentioned?

Had a look, I think I found one but it only showed two round mounts that appeared identical,
The LHD mounts I've seen are the same as the ones in your photo but the advert says they are "left" mounts (presumably left side of engine),
I've taken it from the threads I've previously read that the mounts are both the same ?

Yeah the m20 6pot rubber mounts are identical to the e28 m5 ones except the e28 ones are taller and stronger mate. And yes its 2 left hand (round) e28 m5 rubber mounts that you need :). I payed about £42 for a pair of them in ECP :)

As above, other than that it will have to be the stealers! And iirc was around the £80 mark.
Got mine from ECP and took them to sytner to check to OEM numbers were correct and asked how much they were from them, out of pure curiosity

My rubber mounts from ECP arrived today. They're Vaico v20-0466. They have the correct oem number on the box and look the part (11811128932). The Vaico website lists them as M30 mounts, but I guess that's OK.

£57.48 delivered, took only a few days.

That's fine, the m5 was powered by the m30 3.5 engine, the mounts you have will be fine 8)
