Have the engine suspended in the bay with a jack under the gearbox.

Having trouble getting it to sit right on the 2 engine mounts! The mounts I have are eccentric ones, e28 m5 as far as I know.

Someone know what way they should be in the subframe? In the hole or in the slow and which way do the little guide pins go then?

Got it in one when I went back out :?

One of the gearbox mounts (passenger side) isn't under much pressure thoug, as if there was a slight tilt to the engine

Are you using the right alloy arms?

i'm sure there was 2 versions of them ..(?)

something to do with the hole on the alloy arm, on the rubber mount side,
not being quite in the right place, and has to be drilled out or something :?

E36 m52 alloy arms. But I got it in not long ago, the 2 of us struggled more than I did on my own after a few mins away from it.

E36 alloy arms are the ones to use

These can be fiddly sometimes. Best tip I can give is to have the rubber mounts just loosely bolted up so they can flop about a bit, you'll get them lined up eventually. As soon as you get one side on, stuck a nut on to stop it pulling out again in the event you have to jack the engine up a bit to line up the other mount.

It was a mix of jacking the box up and raising the engine on the hoist and down a little and up again etc, had the mounts very lose on the arms to get them right. Was trying to get them to fit in the hole rather than the slot which just didnt work. I'll stick up some picks in my thread shortly

As lee said, I fitted the rubber mounts to the outside holes in the subframe "but loose" then you can put your hand down and help it into position while your mate mans the hoist, then once you have 1 on stick a nut on it and sort the other side.

Learnt my lesson after my m20b25 swap! Had the rubber mounts on the subframe but done up tight, was a bastard to get on them!!

Used the above method on my m50 swap and she was on in 10 mins 8)
