Since the previous owner told me it was a 60mm drop I have taken his word for it. After comparing other e30's ride height/arch gaps etc, I am starting to question the drop on mine. The rear looks to low IMO, or is it me nit picking?

Sometimes the back seems lower because the subframe bushes are shagged and it sits sloppy and low. It may also be that the springs have sagged at the back.
Lowering 60mm on an E30 is too low for any chance of reasonable handling anyway. (Other people may say 'rubbish! mine's lowered 80mm and I've never had any problems,' but they are deluded.)

The touring was like this until I replaced all the rear subframe bushes for new ones, totally transformed the car & gave it a very slight rack too.toby wrote:Sometimes the back seems lower because the subframe bushes are shagged and it sits sloppy and low. My touring was the same. Do you mean rake, not rack (with nose pointed down slightly)?oomz1975 wrote:The touring was like this until I replaced all the rear subframe bushes for new ones, totally transformed the car & gave it a very slight rack too.toby wrote:Sometimes the back seems lower because the subframe bushes are shagged and it sits sloppy and low. 60mm/70mm lowering ...
I think it can cheat a little bit with the rear fender.
The rounding on the rear fender are not identical on a E30 83-87(chromie) and 87-91 ???( with skirt kit )
maybe it's wrong???
My e30 is lowering 80mm and 215/40-15 tyres

My e30 with same lowering, but with 215/45-16 tyres

I said there'd be an -80mm representative didn't I?
By 'cheat' do you mean the rear tyre hits the rear wing? So the lack of handling and shredded rear tyres doesn't put you off the 80mm drop?

I have first tried with 40mm lowering , and after that i buy 60mm , now i have buy FK Highsport Gewind and KW ( adjustable 40-80mm ) kit to 12000 kr, ( 1200 £ ), it is lowered so much it can!
Now with 80mm lowering, I can not turn right and left so much, without the scrapes on. I have rolled/knocked the fender ( what's it called on english?
) ... the same on the rear...

Looks like mine, I got a 60mm drop and it is nearly undrivable, looks stupid too, I've grown out of the really low look, I'm going to a 30mm drop so I can drive it over speed bumps in 2011.

You mean you don't like getting 'your scrape on'?
These cars are so much more rewarding to drive when they aren't lowered beyond 40mm (and the subframe bushes aren't worn).

Hi, My cab was lowered by the previous owner -60/40. Worst F**** ride ever. Changed the set up to Bilstein B4 shocks with Eibach lowering springs and it is a totally different ride.
IMO anything lower than 30-40mm is a no no.

I've noticed an 'even' drop makes the rear look like it's sitting too low on the facelift models, so OP's could well be 60 drop all around.
The guys running 80mm drops might not have the correct rolling radius also - don't the VW guys do stupid drops by running small wheels and low profile tyres?
