Why not pick on somthing that may effect me like my spelling or punctuation? Instead of batteling your own points of view about my taste and the fact that the pictured rep build could have been a success.pacerpete wrote:DaveyB wrote:Get off your moral high horse c0ck breath. The cabrio in question was "created" by MAJ-POWER who then sold it to FMH.DaveyB wrote:Haha i wish to only make this respected gentleman of the forum that the job in question should not be written off as a bodge or failure!
It wrong on so many levels and if you looked up the word bodge there would be a pic of it.
You just gotta love the 4 foot weld down each side, the bogged/P40'd up doors to lose the moulding holes and general air of back street action.
Nice place to jack the turd up as well!

Pete, you old rascal/Executive of the finest order,DaveyB wrote:pacerpete wrote:
I see no problem with this method! A little rough handed with the cuttin in the first pic, but with a clean cut and a strong weld and sealed back, this would be a good job. I know full quaters would be better to drill out spot welds and replace in full. But depending what you have to work with, if its done well and looks good, its a winner

I have just spat a glass of my finest En Primeur vintage all over my screen,

The M3 rep your making is a lovely job by the looks of it, Not like the usual tacky looking examples I have usually come across. The black looks good even the M3 badge needs to go on there as it is an M3 replica so you cant leave that badge out.
The AC Shnitser badge is OTT! as the car is an M3 rep then you will have Alpina wheels with an AC Shnitser badge! it will ruin the replica and make it look more like a replica then the real deal!
maybe if you were to put AC Shnitser wheels 5 spoke 2pc splits then maybe the badge could stay just have a think about it ;)
The front bumper somebody did point it out earlier in the thread! there very hard to get hold of genuine M3 bumpers and can cost a great deal, Dont worry so much about it if you cant find it, Only the enthusiasts with the trained eye know what there looking at!
The 4 stud hubs are very easy to change to the e36 5 studs. It all balls down to personal affordability tho and how much of a lookalike you want to make it! as your car is a right hand drive I wouldnt bother and just endevour to make sure the complete work is done to a very high standard, mirror straight body panels and car looks the part and drives like a BMW should.
Do all that and I dont think you will have a problem selling her! Good Luck with the Build am looking forward to seeing the complete car, also the 325i engine is fine more power will cause more strain on the arches and the body! If the body panels M3 arches are made of fibre glass then it may cause the paint to crack or with age start messing up!!!
The fibre glass is not like the real aluminium arches so just think about that before thinking of putting a bigger engine conversion etc.
Thats all mate take care and good luck with the build.

sorry mate my bad not sure if there galvanised or aluminium but my point was that this car is built with fibre glass body panels and its not the same as the real metal arch/fender's m3's have; with age and how the cars kept the fibre glass will end up showing cracks and looking messy if your looking to do more then just show casing the car.

Proper one have normal non galvanised steel arches. Most replicas have genuine metal front wings as they're a straight swap with standard parts, and most these days have genuine rear arches butchered from scrapped / crashed m3s and bodged on using various methods!
cheers,
