Forget the Schnitz badges. What are the "M3" badges for? Aside from ruining a nice car, by cheapening it.

or you you have a real m3 so every replica m3 you comment on. aint you got a better way to spend your time on xmas day. theres no need for such a negitive comment. yes the real m3 is better every person on here knows. 15k out of your pocket if you can do that its the only answer the rest of us are just happy with what we are doing. if a real m3 comes up under 12k at the moment i would probs buy it when this is finished. i have seen you comment on a few reps. why?????????

Paranoid much? You post on a public site. Expect not to get 100% adulation.

Leave the M3 badges off and it will be fine. Stick them on, and you join the "E36 316 with a M3 badge" brigade. And those guys are wankers. There's nothing wrong with making a nice E30 cab. Even with those arches. It's the badges that tip it over the edge.

Any replica (car/handbag/watch/faberge egg) is shite unless it's identical to a genuine one and costs less than 1/3 of the price IMO

thats what you think mate and in a way your right. but i think its up to the owner of the car to do what he wants. i have read your comments on a few m3 replicas and there not nice a lot of time and money have went into these cars. it would be a bit daft to fit the all the kit send the cash on getting it painted then dont put £5o worth of badges on that will set the car off and take 5 min to fit. and what if a e36 m3 engine goes in theres loads of power out a right hand drive rep. i have owned a few e30s now and probs if a real m3 pops up soon for the right cash i will buy it now. but i know theres no way i could buy one for the money i will have spent on this

Fair play. the M3 convertible was always a bodge, stick a fat motor in the loins & give it some stomp. It's a personal thing but start with a chassis that can perform :D winkeye

It is not and will not ever be an m3 so why badge it as one?

Badging up a car is best left to spotty teenagers with base model hatchbacks.

I I've no problem at all with people putting bits off other models onto their cars, or making recreations, I just think badges are a touch too far. All imho of course.
cheers,

this is going to be more than just a badged up spotty faced chav replica so IMO badge it up. if you can't afford the real thing (like myself) then have a good replica.

Would the OP like this thread broken up so we can concentrate on his epic build as at least one subject?

On badges: People used to ask why there was a m-badge on one of my cars. I said 'err well it was built in blah blah orginally by bmw something.....' They soon walk haha.

People don't care unless it looks good. In my opinion a badge makes it look good to everyone but those in the know. If BMW did Cornwall badges...

i wasn't being critical myself, i just thought if it was going to be a nice job, then keep it "proper" and use BMW bonnet and boot badges. if you want it to look the part, then do it as completely as possible, nothing wrong with that if it makes you feel good imo.

i'm looking forward to watching progress

leave the thread as it is i still cant get over how much its bothering people. even a few say its each to they own so seems its my build i will be fitting them. i think the car will look realy stupid with the kit on and no badges but hey just lets stop talking about them now and call the way the bricks are laid on me garage wall or something. i will be taking the car back to body shop tommro so will get some pics on the trailor and pics of the wheels i have. will update tommro still looking for engine if any1? has or know someone with them.

just to state i know this car will neather be a real m3 im just trying doing my best with what i have i dont wanna go crazzy with the budget and start sending crazy money but with a good engine conversion i think should be well under the 4.5k mark . i will buy a real one in the near future if a good one turns up. this is just a little project that i am enjoying doing. last year i built a nova c20let turbo was running 322bhp and that was a super quick car i will post pics if any1 is intrested. so speed is not realy my thing as the nova was faster than me mates e46 m3 but was a little bit shakey lol. just love the look of the e30 m3 the left hand drive puts me off a little just as i think it will be funny driving it but should get the hang of it.

dan-t-man i was always going to fit the bages i have seen your car and read your post very nice. just a few quick questions was the engine conversion easy to do or is it just hard getting the parts?. what wheels did you go with in the end i have some 18x9 and a set of 17 alpina so i dont know which to go with i have 2 sets of hubcentric spacers one set at 20mm and one set at 40mm i dont realy wanna fit these maybe the 20mm set on the back. but time will tell i suppose lol. cracking car you built there cheers

hi mate , stick the badges on!! finish the car to your spec and your taste as thats what makes it your project!! i got slated to death on the 2002 forum for putting a turbo'd m44 in it when it wasnt "originally" a turbo and also slated then for putting alpina stripes on "a non alpina" car

If you're looking for an M3 S14 engine, have a chat with Glenn on here, does the big engine changes. He's got one for sale I believe.

* thread for Glenn's latest build... Engine is advertised in his signature... *

cheers mate the engine conversion is hard the first time but easy when you know how, think there is someone on here selling the complete kit everything you'll need for the conversion jhonno i think,i ended up keeping the bbs split rims (18"9.5 rears 8.5 fronts)on but am on the look out for some borbet c types or something similar so i can get my big breaks fitted ,so will be selling a few sets soon,i have a set of staggered style 5's if your interested

Unless you're doing a proper replica, LHD, S14 engine (or some other M engine) correct struts & hubs, dampers, Diff etc etc I'd leave the M badges off. If it takes a bit longer because of cash etc, it'll be worth the wait.

Personally I wouldntput the badges on unless I had done the conversion etc, but at the end of the day its your car and you make it look how you want it to look! Your the one that will see the car every day, so put the badges on if you think thats what looks best to you!

Looked like a nice clean motor before it all started, so will be good to see pictures once its all done! Once you have it looking the part, your going to want to put the M3 engine in it to make it go as good as it looks lol.
