Just got a lovely letter come thru saying I was doing 49 in a 40. :x

I have heard of there being a whole pile of ways to wriggle out of a fine and the points, asking for calibration details etc. Anyone know of any thing that may help?

Would I be eligable for the driver awareness programme?

Merry xmas...

How were you caught? Speed camera or plod with a hend held?

IMO not worth buggering about.

You may get away with speed awareness course but you have to plead guilty first by accepting the charge and ticking the box accepting it was you driving. I'm uncertain of what the threshold is for when a speed awareness course is an option.

I got one for 36 in a 30

You need to send the NIP back signed and sealed before they will consider you for the course, you are in the speed bracket though.
Sending them letters asking for calibration certs doesnt cut the mustard anymore.

Was it a scamera van or gatso?

handheld device, the bastard was hiding round a blind bend with a gun.

so plead guilty, and add a letter in asking to be considered for driving awareness course?

If it is a company car it could have been dealt with first time round by just ignoring it.
Because the car is usually registered in the companies name (company not person) they cant give out the 6 points for not disclosing the info

You could do with finding out how many people its been sent to, it might pay off to just ignore it.
They get 6 months to bring you to court, if that time has past AFAIK they cant chase you anymore.

All the ins and outs are on that forum though

well I suppose its a little more complicated. My company car was fucked, so was given a long term hire car. But the hire car know my details and have obviously passed the details onto the plod. aparently its from the 29/10/10.

do u reckon its worth ignoring under these circumstances?

The law allow your speedo to be 10% out. So theoretically, 44mph if your speedo was dead on. Then usually then have a couple of mph error in whatever method they are measuring your speed by. So 46ish mph is your maximum.

In any case, I thought if they hadn't identified you/sent you a letter within 2 weeks you got away with it? :woohoo: :?

My friend got caught by a camera, kept asking to see the calibration and photos of the offense. The police lost said photos, and had to drop it. This was over the course of several months.

You've been nicked. Stop p1ssing and crying about it and pay up.

Everyone breaks the speed limit. Some get caught some don't. But if you take the risk, you must be prepared to pay your way. End of

If plod were actually trying to slow traffic in accident black spots then I would agree with Trev and Si. The fact they hide out of sight, on roads that are moving slightly over the limit, then do hole lines of traffic makes me sick.
How can they be a deterant if they can be seen.

Bent bast4rds who are out for the money. Nothing else. Fook that. If theres a way to get out of I'd want to know!

What I would do is put your freinds name and details on the form and send it back. When your friends recieved the same form get him to fill your details out on it!
Just keep doing that but always wait till the last day to send the form back. They should just dropp it after a while.

:? There will be ways to get away with it if you ignore it like suggested above, but when it starts to build up and your debt starts to get more and more, is it worth it?

Like B7 said, just pay it dude... Man up... If your speeding and got caught then they're doing their job to be honest. If someone else had been doing the same round the corner and hit one of your loved ones, it would have been a different matter... The fact that he was hiding round the bend is a good thing as its obviously a hotspot for people going over the limit on a what must be blind bend...

Pay up, man up. :D

I got one for 36 in a 30
i was stopped by plod-on-foot doing 26 in my road, which had just changed to a 20 limit.
i was advised i could contest it in court or attend an "SAC" (watch a video in a caravan in the local Asda car park).
he said 21-24 = "a word in your ear", 25-29 = accept fine +3 points/attend court/attend SAC, 30+ = court

naturally, i went to watch the video

good luck Adam

we've all been done before, i've had 9 points before trips to court for speeding. You've just got to take it sometimes. Its character building!

I have had 12 points a trip to court. I got away without a ban. Then got flashed again . Another trip to court which got agurned. By the time the date came around 6 points came off so on the day i only had 6 points. Kept it again winkeye

Its keen now, even the DR10 comes off after 10 years this christmas.

Not the best driving record. :o:

I still would like to griggle out of paying them anything if i could!

I don't think you will be offered the awareness course as it is for drivers with 8mph max over the limit

You can stick the man up comments down the shitter and flush them away with your other shite for me, I wouldnt save face for the bent bastards, they are the most crooked 'professionals' out there, theyve f*cked me right over in the past just because they felt like it so id like nothing more than to do the same to them.

Its why scum bags like Raul Moat get so much support, because the police have f*cked so many people over and continue to do so they have practically zero respect from the public anymore

Very true.
if you can get away with it do so, there is nothing manly in giving your money away to the forces of repression. There is probably even a case for giving them the run around and wasting their time so they can't get up to other nefarious acts.

Yeah, course I have, everyone has, but if I got a speeding ticket, i'd pay it... Like I said, there is no reason for speeding and if you get caught your doing wrong. And if your doing it on a blind bend then their is no excuse, limits are there for a reason. When I go over the speed limit its on straight roads where I can see well ahead of me. Country roads and a/b roads... Not in cities, never. :? Dont want to offend anyone, I just dont think you should speed in certain places.

I agree. All of my speed offences have been on A, M roads late at night. Its the ones that hide on slip roads at 11 at night on the main roads, No one about and flash you for 85-90 that p1ss me off the most!

Well I think i'm lucky then as I never encountered one whilst driving to be honest. Seem em about on normal 30-40 roads but like I say, I stick to the limit on them regardless.

I'm in two minds on this.
Speed limits are mostly fairly arbitrary. In some places 30 is way too high and in others it's a joke.
Automated cameras annoy me because there's no room for judgement on whether the driving was actually dangerous, just an implicit acceptance that it's dangerous over a certain number, with no consideration for road conditions or other factors.

Some of the chavs who come through my village at 30 quite legally when there's a 2 inch layer of compressed snow on the road, I'd be quite happy if they were flogged within an inch of there lives, but in other cases 30 limits can exist basicly just to reduce road noise.

I would severley punish dangerous drivers, even the ones who claim they 'have better skills' than anyone else, but that's clearly not the same as people who are a little over the limit on a quiet road with good visibility.

Touch wood I've never been caught yet, and I make every effort not to speed, especially in 30 zones, but I know it's only a matter of time before I follow someone else through at 35 while I'm thinking about something at work.

Dan stop getting caught might be a good idea? then you won't have the hate of feeling shafted all the time.

If you speed you need to be ultra aware all the time. Cos if you f**k up they'll throw the book at you
