I'm looking ot buy an estate, and looking at the touring and vw golf estate.
I know how strong the vw engines are, and roughly when its time to start looking at a rebuild, but i was wondering if some one could let me know at what kind of mileage would it be sensible to consider rebuilding an engine in both the 318 and 320 tourings, both e30 and e36 engines.
all help appreciated
thanks in advance
engine rebuild query?

My 318i had 240,000 miles and was still going strong when I replaced it

My wife's 325 touring M20 has just past 250,000 miles and is as new.
Regularly gets buzzed to 7000RPM +, as it runs on LPG, so the rev limiter doesn't work.

So basically if its a low owner, fully regularly serviced one, and clean, then the engines are not really and issue i take it.
cheers lads, this will help me make my decision as to which motor to get now for some of the work i do.
Much appreciated

Likewise, there is a fellow on www.bm2e30.net who has a 325i with over 300,000 miles, still going. Its an '89 and he has had it since new
