ECU Location

I'm getting confused, (not difficult)
I'm using an E36 325 (M50) in mine, I was hoping to locate the ECU "inside" the car under the dash, I thought I'd read you can do this with the E36 engine loom, now reading other discussions seems to indicate this is not possible,
Anyone clarify please ??
(Nowhere near ready yet just collecting the parts etc in readiness)

Probably be better for you to get an e34 loom mate tbh, I used an e34 engine and loom and I extended the wires so it would sit in stock position, although on the correct side the ecu still doesn't quite reach inside, this took a while LOL but worth the effort!
I'm sure the e36 ecu is on the e30 fusebox side??

It will reach just about, but you will have to mount it on the p1ss unless you remove the wiring box and unravel the spaghetti

The looms I do sit the ECU in the correct position without pulling the wires

i have to quote myself here and make something clear... the e34 loom would ''not quite'' fit until i spent a while extending the wires, now it sits in exactly stock position which was worth the effort

This is interesting. So my E36 loom (from an auto) will probably be a bitch to sort out unless I put the ECU somewhere annoying. Hmmmm..

Complete plug and play, no messing.

Auto looms just have a load more wires to remove.
Here is one of my finished M52 looms, more wires in these but not too different to look at

I've used Dan's looms twice now, each time plug n play rightness and the ECU located in the correct place. Relays located in the correct place and no unnecessary spagetti on display
