I had a key cut from the number, the dealer only charged me Ԛ£10, and that was for a key with a built in light thingy, bargain!!!! they had run out of normal blanks so gave me the 'light' key for no extra charge. For anyone who's interested it was Scotthalls in Southampton. My local dealer woods in Bournemouth charge you for breathing their air....

Some cars might also still have the key code in the glovebox, I know my old sport did, it was stuck to the lip of the glovebox as you open it, I wonder if Chris thought "what's that", and threw it in the bin..Chris?!

just done the same thing.....almost.

Had a couple of keys cut from the chassis number Ԛ£6ish for a normal, Ԛ£20ish for a torch key. Only to discover the locks had been changed!!!!!!!!! So....the two options are, get a whole new lock set, supplied and fitted by the stealers for about Ԛ£360. OR, do what I'm going to do one day soon, get a whole new lock set but make sure the stealers only do the ignition barrel (they have to do that) and get a cheaper specialist to do the rest. You can then get the stealers to update the database of your chassis number with the new lock codes, so in future if you or the next owner wants more keys, it can easily be done off the VIN. Also, if anyone has ever nicked or withheld keys, everything will be different, but still linked to your VIN! Excellent! Everyone's a winner!

Erm sorry; you can't just phone up & order a key to whoever's car you fancy! ;)

They need to see your V5 & photo ID to prove it's your car :thumb:

That does sound a bit silly now
My nearest Dealer isn't very close, I'll give them a ring first and finger's crossed they can do them on site and they don't charge to much.
