Just Starting to get the bits together for this so thought i'd start a build thread as no doubt i will be asking a few questions along the way.

Image

Picked up this clean 320i auto touring which has been converted to 325i auto.

It has an issue with the o/s/r wheel not quite sitting right but hoping a refurbed rear axle will sort that out.

Also bought the donor car last week

After readiing through the section i have decided to go with and keep me right please.

To use the m42 box you have to buy a new spigot bearing for an m20 engine! I got caught out with this after mating the box to the engine!!
Save you having to split again like me!!

I can arrange that for you mate, have to dig through the mountains of reciepts from sytner LOL, I can tell you that if you ask in bmw for a spigot bearing for an m20 engine it will be right! The hole is 12mm as a pose to the 15mm m50-52

Got a 3.64 lsd sorted picking it up next week and awaiting to hear back from a fellow zoner about the e34 sump etc.

I have a rear axle fresh with poly bushes and a coat of hammerite ready to go aswell.

Still need to source an m50 aircon fan and an 318is box (if jbh doesnt have one in his stock pile)

Getting there with the parts list tho. :D

Parts are nearly all here but i need to get the m30 touring out the garage to get the black one in.With it not have tax,mot or insurance atm it a bit of a pain as i need to move it 5 miles.

Hoping to get it moved soon so i can get stripping the touring over the holidays

The rear beam is no ready to fit complete wit a 3.64 lsd.

Have cut 14mm spacers for the e36 rack from the old trailing arm bush sleeves so hope they will work.

Rearbeam is now in.With a helping had from Gaz it was alot easier.

This is the driver side that had the issue with the wheel not sitting right

Another thing i found today was it was fitted with two different rear springs poke/
I'd love to know which garage it was in to sort out the rear wheel issues as they aint upto much going by what i have seen.

All looks as it should now so hopefully that that sorted .Now i can get on with the engine transplant. :D

Parked in the garage for the winter is it Nick?

I will have to have a chat with you soon re e36 rack pas pipe bending.
Progress will slow down abit now until more parts turn up.
Also have the m52 to pull from the donor and get the loom off to Dan.

In for a penny in for a pound and all that.

Tonight i cleaned up the engine bay.
Chassis rails were given two coats of black hammerite hammered which isnt to far off the colour

As i'm doing all this work the carpet was removed to have a look at the floor pan in case there was any issue that needed addressing plus it will make life easier fitting the pedal box.

Taking the carpet out of an E30 always scares me tbh as with ever other one i have taking out there was always rot somewhere.(thanks for the nudge gcs325i .I wont be wondering what under there now LOL )
Thankfully this one is spot on B-)

Engine mounts turned up today as did the oil for the lsd.
Still waiting on the e34 sump etc and the clio servo

Anyway as usually some pics

tis all safely tucked up. :)

if you are able to wait a while you can have my already bent pipes (oooer) as i'm making my own up soon. mine will do the job no problem but the cooler loop is lower than the sump ATM, and it's pretty low. now the weather has warmed up a bit i might do some work on it this month.....need to get my finger out for a full summers use this year.
