i used an e36 328 rad with built in expansion tank so i ditched the e30 one.
also i spent ages extending the wires for the ecu so it would sit in stock position so also the battery can stay where she is

can you fit the battery there with the ECU behind it?

thats doubtful tbh mate, its a little tight.
she started off a 320i so thats where the battery was as stock.
this was not in mind when i extended the ecu wires to be honest, i just wanted the ecu in stock position.
i could mess around with a battery relocation kit but i think its fine where it is as there would just be a big empty space like.... also as the battery is up front the tray in the boot has been filled with a handy deep storage tray courtesy of bmw LOL

hmm well i went down the scrapers and got a battery kit out of an E38 325
i think il have the battery in the boot and ECU in the bay
then go nuts down the scrappers with bits of plastics and trim that i can modify to use to tidy things up
i can figure it out when its in, just wanted an idea

Aaron, youve got a 5 series rad in the conversion so you dont need the header tank, stick the batterey in the boot, its so much tidyer that way, ECU can sit where the batterey was, thats how I ran mine



all that was needed was a smaller bottle for the washer fluid, if you take the time to route everything nicely when you fit it in it really pays off!

And when you fit it come show me!!!

I'm strugling to see any difference between mine and your tbh!
Having the battery up front does not make it look untidy at all. Infact look at the 2 pics..... Having the ecu there looks worse imo

easy, im not saying yours looks untidy, in all fact i think its mint! I feel wiring terms its tidyier and easier as the ecu wires dont have to be extended, no offence meant!

yes in terms off the wiring your right there, I spent friggin ages extending each wire so it would sit under the dash! Haven't I seen yours in the for sale section?

Yep it was mine in the for sale section, arrons taking delivery of it tomorow! I love the m50s in e30s they work so well, fair play for extending the wires, paid off though in the end!

I thought it was the one! Saw it not long after I bought my engine, mine didn't come as a package see, had to source everything from all over the shop LOL.
You say they work so well??... I've not driven mine on the road yet as I still have the exhaust to be made, but seriously... What are they like? From moving it into the carpark outside my garage I can sort of tell she's a beast but I wanna hear it from someone who has lived with one first hand. Ant

Yea i know that feeling, i sourced all my parts too,

Ah, see mine came with a full exhaust haha, for the size of motor there great, mine was as fast as my sisters Renault R26, and yet you can drive them normally and it will just be like a modern bmw but with style! I got easy 30mpg just pottling about.

Iv had E36s and E34s all with m50 motors and they dont even come close to how an e30 will drive with a m50. Also I put a lightend flywheel in and that made a massive massive difference to the way it responded.

Good stuff , I'm hoping the vanos will make a difference down low. Just read the tech data on the megan r26, 230bhp! So an m50'd e30 as quick as one of them is impressive shit , I'm going to be well happy with that..... For now LOL
