Any ideas on how to work out which of my ABS sensors is on the blink? For some reason my mate's carsoft (IIRC) stuff won't talk to my car.

Hours of multimeter fun amybe, or just replace them both? Is it just two on an E36?

Multimeter would be fine if there was anywhere accessible to connect it to...

Mine was easy - maybe I was just lucky! Thankfully it was July when it went too...
Got the head off last week (yes, it was snowing at the time!) then got snowed in, so I'm picking it up tomorrow morning... & should be able to whack it straight back on hopefully. Was obvious where the HG had let go. Straight forward enough job so far, once I'd worked out where I needed to unbolt the inlet mani from the block to get it off the studs. Re-fit the 'zorst mani before the head goes back on do you reckon? Thanks again for the tips - the timing cover is indeed currently bolted to the head for example
Been abusing the E30 on our filthy roads for the last couple of weeks - great fun, but hardly ideal! And I've got to do the water pump on that tomorrow too
