bit of an update....
the turd is due back from the paint guys tomorrow
so I guess i must get the donk ready, !
new shells and rings, the head is due back from testing , new guides ect
and I gave it a lick of paint....

I really want to make a nice torquey 2.7/2.8 donk to fit this car but I must hold back and try keep it original, it's what it deserves !
I spent a whole day putting the front bumper together, ...I knew there was a reason I hated chromie turds,

yes, back to how they were,
it seems Hartge did a LOT of work on the 731 head, the ports are the same size as an 883 , I might use a 325i intake and tb , one thing is for sure it will be Motronic 1.3 I don't want this using the dreaded jetronic !

Don't fanny around with strokers, that 2.3 is a nice revvy little machine

the h23 head is basically a 731 minus the bits that get in the way

heating the aircraft hanger size barn might be expensive but a good old padded baby romper suit and some spanner rash should keep the cockles warm
my front garden is slowly melting and i can see a car cover through it

I looked at this car about a year ago before it had any work done to it, but it needed alot of time and work too much for me as I have a couple of projects. I wasn't sure if it had been converted from new as it had an '87 head on it, or whether it had been replaced. It has had aircon at a time but bits have been taken off it. I thought it would make a great project as all the good bit were still there which is rare, it even had original bottle top with the original Uniroyal 340 in the boot. When I looked at it, if the wrong person had got it, it would have been broke as you could have got good money for the tasty bits. Looks great keep up the good work

thank you Crazy1 !
this car has certainly done the rounds, it seems that it spent some time in Ireland after being sold by a chap in Essex, it was bought from a guy in Dublin who did a "restoration"
I think he rushed towards the end not realising what he had took on, !
then it was shipped back over here, it is indeed the real thing I don't need to prove this as some do with their Hartge
the Head is an 87, 731 which I found strange and thought it may have had a replacement 320i head at some point in it's life, but to my relief it has the correct stamp on the side and has been ported/re-worked
your right, it came from the factory with Air-con which will be going back in

Well, a bit of an update,
been quite busy on this turd in the last week,
the Donk is almost done with new shiny bits and bolts, I love new BMW bolts I really must try the passivated thing like Trev B7 does !
it's looking Good

I need to change the whole loom on the car because the early 1985 one fitted is really sad due to Moronic Clifford/Moss/Piranha (yes it had 3 alarms) alarm installers armed with scotchblocks had molested most of it
anyway I have decided to go Motronic 1.3, and this means changing the Loom for a later model so I can have the C101 plug , managed to find a minter from a 86, (pre-face) car so no butchering required at all ! I will be "upgrading" to electric windows too
...er quite a bit of spaghetti to sort out !

the back end is coming together, the new chrome bumpers are a complete ass to get lined up properly !!

I removed the front subframe, and everything attached to it is very sad/rotten Luckily the Billy B8's are the Hartge one's and in very good order,

I have ordered everything new, I just hope it turns up before Xmas
