Right prob number one:

fuel leaking from tank when filled right up, all hoses tight and sealed, and tank solid as a rock where the filler neck goes in, but its only seems to leak around the filler area in the tank.

second will an early set of 325i clocks work fine and dandy in my 89 facelift 320i?

Cheers Mark.

when diffin mine it used to stink of petrol but only on anti-clockwise hoops. tryed my spare petrol cap but didn't solve it and the rubber looked alright on the underside of the cap. took the rubber of one and put the two rubbers on one cap. tight to get on but no more leakies... 8)

Fuel tank rusts through on the little filler stub itself and very close to the stub. The rest of the tank will be in perfect order.
Other leak sources are a split O ring under the fuel pump fixing and the fuel filler pipe from the petrol cap down to the tank
